Terri “Missy” Bevers: Fitness Instructor Killed In A Church As She Arrived For a Morning Dance Class Was Exchanging Flirty Messages Before Murder

The family of fitness instructor Terri “Missy” Bevers, 45, who was murdered in a North Texas church, have described the news as “devastating” that Bevers and her husband were allegedly having affairs, in an interview published on Tuesday.

As Fox News reports, the body of the fitness instructor was found a by a student who had arrived for a dance class at the Creekside Church of Christ on April 18. A surveillance video showed the killer arriving at the church a few minutes before Bevers arrived. The unidentified killer was dressed in a helmet, wore a pair of gloves and a police jacket.

Investigators discovered flirty messages on her personal devices, which led police to say that Bevers and her husband, Brandon, had “an ongoing financial and marital struggle as well as intimate relationships external to the marriage.” His mother, Marsha Tucker, said it was a painful thing for her son “to lose his wife to murder then find out about flirtatious remarks she exchanged with other people.” But, Brandon Bevers has remained upbeat, saying he was impressed with how the investigation was proceeding, adding that he had faith the killer would be caught.

The couple has three girls with an age range of 8 to 15.

A court affidavit revealed that the fitness instructor had received a chilling message from LinkedIn a few days before her death. Police eventually tracked down the man who sent the message, but said that he was not a person of interest.

Bevers was murdered at about 4:18 a.m., when she arrived before dawn to prep an early morning fitness dance class. Police were on the scene an hour later and found her dead, surrounded with shards of broken glass. The assailant was heavily dressed in tactical gear, giving an impression that the covered up suspect could actually be a woman. Surveillance cameras captured footage of the alleged assailant around 3:50 a.m.

Questions have continued to swirl over the suspect’s identity, and if Bevers was murdered for personal reasons or if she was just an unfortunate victim of a burglary gone wrong. Police say there were signs of a forced entry and that Missy Bevers might have stumbled into a burglary as she was prepping her Camp Gladiator fitness class. Her sister-in-law, Kristi Stout, believes she was murdered and was not a hapless victim who happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Police believe Bevers may have had contact with the killer prior to her death and say judging by the footage that the assailant had a distinctive walk caused by an injury to the right or left foot. Investigators are also trying to analyze the “electronic footprints” that might have been left behind by the killer with assistance from tracking experts of the New York Police Department.

Her mother-in-law described Bevers as a good person, the kind who cried if she heard that an animal was in pain. She said the last text message she got from her was when she traveled to Austin, Texas, for a fitness event. In the text that she sent, Bevers expressed gratitude to her mother-in-law for talking to her husband and making sure he got a corrective surgery. “We know she wasn’t perfect, none of us are perfect…but we love her no matter what,” she said.

Her husband, Brandon Brevers, said their girls were holding up well even though he was still not in the right state of mind to comprehend the violent murder of his wife. “We’ve had such an outpouring of support coming from every direction; we’ve been bombarded with blessings,” he said.
