The Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) is targeting the White House in an attempt to secure the recipe for President Obama’s favorite White House ale.

Last week the President during a campaign stop told a voter that he always travels with White House Honey Ale. The President then brought out a bottle of the homebrew special from the campaign bus.

After realizing that the White House was making its own specialty beer homebrewers around the country began signing a petitionto have the recipe released. The petition is located on the official White House website and has so far attracted 2,050 signatures of the 25,000 requested.

The founding forefathers were big fans of homebrewed beer and often shared their favorite recipes with their constituents.

Because the beer is believed to have been created by a federal employee while working in the White House FOIA requests have claimed that the beer recipe actually belongs in the public domain. Unfortunately as Raw Story explains, the FOIA only pertains to official government documents for which the White House Honey Ale is not.

Should the White House homebrew recipe be released to the general public we assume microbrew locations all over the country will soon have a new menu item for customers to try.

President Obama has been making waves recently over his love of beer, in one case allegedly costing one beer tent owner $25,000 after the President stopped at his tent, causing long lines to form as beer drinkers were forced to undergo background checks before entering the tent.

Several analysts have claimed that President Obama could win the election based on his love of Americas favorite alcoholic beverage.
