‘Fear The Walking Dead’: New Trailer For Episode 6 Brings Up Chris’ State Of Mind

For Chris Manawa, life has been hard in the zombie apocalypse. So far in Fear The Walking Dead, he has lost someone close to him and had to grapple with the newly infected. And this is even before you factor in teenage angst. So could Chris’ mental health come into question in Episode 6?

SPOILER ALERT: This article discusses Episode 6 (entitled “Sicut Cervus”)of Season 2 of AMC’s Fear The Walking Dead. Please proceed with caution if you wish to avoid spoilers.

Season 1 saw Chris Manawa (played by Lorenzo James Henrie) as a teenager on a mission to find out the truth when the world started to become infected. However, because he is a teenager, most of his determination was curbed by parental influences. Then, when his mother was bitten and had to be put down, poor Chris nearly lost his mind completely. His mental health is something he has struggled with since then.

However, Episode 5 (entitled “Captive”) of Fear The Walking Dead saw Chris shoot Reed (Jesse McCartney) and tell everyone he was infected – when he wasn’t. He may have had some grievous injuries, but Reed wasn’t yet a card-carrying member of the undead. While this was apparent to the audience, we must remember that the zombie apocalypse is new to the characters in Fear The Walking Dead, and what fans know intrinsically is actually new information pieced together from harrowing events by these new characters. Some of this information they might not even believe yet. Chris could really think Reed was infected. And, in all reality, fans know that everyone is infected, so maybe Chris was just doing the guy a favor.

Is it this decision that AMC have mentioned in the synopsis for Episode 6 of Fear The Walking Dead Season 2?

The official synopsis for Episode 6 is as follows:

“Conflict erupts in a final push towards Strand’s destination. Chris makes a decision that shakes the family. Nick meets a new maternal figure.”

It might be something else entirely that “shakes the family.” However, thanks to a new teaser clip for Episode 6 on Comicbook.com, it seems that everyone is talking about Chris and his decision to kill Reed in Episode 5.

In the clip, Chris’ father Travis (Cliff Curtis) is asking Chris what really happened in relation to him shooting Reed — or so the audience assumes. To be perfectly honest, Reed’s name is not mentioned in this clip. Travis refers to the person as “the guy you shot.” Perhaps Chris has gone ahead and preemptively shot someone else in Episode 6 of Fear The Walking Dead?

Regardless, Chris is still maintaining his “infected” stance on the matter. However, Chris does want to know who is talking about him and why the group, as a whole, is so angry with him. He mentions Madison’s (Kim Dickens) name and asks if she is behind it all. Travis insists that Madison is just worried about her stepson, Chris.

It seems like some unresolved conflict has surfaced in Episode 6 of Fear The Walking Dead. And, considering the group also appear to make it to Mexico in this episode, fans just might be in for a huge ride this Sunday night!
