Azealia Banks Officially Suspended By Twitter For Racist Tirade

Azealia Banks was officially banned from Twitter after three years of separate homophobic and racist rants. Her latest rant, directed at Zayn Malik, was a full-on tirade of hate speech against Muslims. The situation escalated very quickly, and it seems like Twitter took notice.

According to CNN, Banks’ account was suspended by Twitter. Now her page redirects to the following notice.

“This account has been suspended. Learn more about why Twitter suspends accounts, or return to your timeline.”

Twitter isn’t the only one that noticed Azealia Banks’ racist tweets. As the Inquisitr reported, Rinse FM, a festival in London, kicked the rapper off of a headlining spot because of the recent drama.

The festival posted the following statement on Twitter.

“We have decided to cancel Azealia Banks’ headline appearance at Rinse Born & Bred. Rinse Born & Bred is a celebration of rave culture and has been created for EVERYONE. We celebrate inclusivity and equality.”

The drama started when Banks came after Zayn Malik and accused him of plagiarizing a certain aesthetic from her video “Yung Rapunxel.” She compared shots from his new video “Like I Would” to hers. When Malik sent a cryptic tweet on Twitter, she interpreted it as a slam against her and started a tirade of racist and homophobic tweets.

“@zaynmalik lol u a b***h n***a for even responding like that. Keep sucking this yung rapunxel d**k u hairy curry scented b***h.”

“@zaynmalik you a d**k rider for real for real. Ride this d**k until the wheels fall off Punjab.”

Malik finally responded to the numerous insults hurled at him and his family.

“Why you been saying nasty things about me? I wasn’t talking about you,” tweeted Malik.

Banks replied by saying his whole family would be obliterated by America. Wasting no time, some Twitter users decided to use the phrase “curry scented b***h” to celebrate their background. Many users posted photos of themselves with the new hashtag.

Now that Azealia Banks has been suspended from Twitter, many are celebrating via the hashtag #AzealiaGotSuspendedParty.

Here’s a sampling.

As some users pointed out, this isn’t the first time Banks has attacked others on Twitter. In 2013, the rapper attacked openly gay media mogul Perez Hilton. During the exchange, she told Perez to kill himself and used a gay slur. It got so heated that GLAAD responded to the tweets by stating:

“Banks’ claim that the word ‘fa***t’ doesn’t mean a gay male is not true. Regardless of her intent or her personal definition, what matters is the meaning given to that word by those who hear it, and the damage it causes when they do.”

Banks later on apologized but then went on to use the same hate speech towards Zayn. As of right now, Banks still has her Instagram account, but she hasn’t made any new posts since the drama happened.
