Thirty-twoyear-old Deanna Cook called 911 on Friday morning from a cellphone to summon police as her ex-husband, Delvecchio Cook, 35, attacked her. On the tape, Cook can be heard saying:

“Delvecchio, why are you doing this… Red, please stop, I didn’t do anything to you!”

According to a local news source, law enforcement officials say that the 911 dispatcher attempted to locate the address, combing through databases to see if Deanna Cook’s cellphone number matched up with a previous call’s address. Within nine minutes, the emergency service dispatch was able to locate an address to match up with Cook’s number. But, still, it seems her murder slipped through the cracks.

Per a police report obtained by the news source, police arrived at Cook’s home, and, when no one answered the door, they left:

“Once obtaining an address, the dispatcher gave the call to the first available police field element. The officers that received the call arrived at the location and knocked at the door. When no one answered, they requested a call-back of the caller which went to voicemail. They also checked the perimeter windows of the home and spoke with neighbors who reported that they had not heard any disturbance.”

It wasn’t until two days later when Cook’s family became concerned about her whereabouts that family members discovered her body in her bathtub. Patrick has been arrested and charged with Cook’s murder on Monday, and police say that there is a history of domestic violence perpetrated by Patrick against Cook.
