‘Fear The Walking Dead’: Will The Group Finally Get To Mexico In Episode 6?

Will the crew on board the Abigail ever make it to Mexico in AMC’s Fear The Walking Dead? And, if they do, is there really the safe haven that Victor Strand has talked about? In Episode 6, fans just might find out.

SPOILER ALERT: This article discusses Season 2 of AMC’s Fear The Walking Dead. Please proceed with caution if you wish to avoid spoilers.

Victor Strand (Colman Domingo) has talked about a safe haven in Mexico and his plans for heading there. His backstory shown in Episode 4 (entitled “Blood in the Streets”) of Season 2 of Fear The Walking Dead alerted fans to the fact there was only two golden tickets to enter this Mexican safe haven; one for Strand, and one for his business associate, Luis Flores (Arturo del Puerto). That meant there were still seven other people on board the Abigail who weren’t granted safe passage.

But does this safe haven still even exist? After all, the zombie apocalypse has hit and we know from the end of Season 1 and the beginning of Season 2 of Fear The Walking Dead that Operation Cobalt wiped out a lot of L.A. So could this also have happened in Mexico? It’s certainly possible. But, even if this safe haven is still there and not overrun with the undead, will Strand and the rest of the crew on board the Abigail ever make it there?

If the promotional stills for Episode 6 are correct, it seems the group will be setting foot on land for certain. But whether this place is the safe haven Strand in looking for is another thing. Although the image below shows Strand talking to a woman. While this could be a flashback, Strand is shown carrying a bag, indicating he has traveled from somewhere. The presence of Travis Manawa (Cliff Curtis) in the background also suggests this is a current event and not a flashback. Concerning is the fact the woman standing in front of Travis appears to be a nurse. Are there infected already here? Also interesting to note is the abundance of what appears to be grape vines in the background. Is the safe haven a vineyard? If so, this place could be bigger than originally expected by fans. Are the group entering something similar to Woodbury from The Walking Dead?

But, even before the group makes it to Mexico, it seems they must outsmart those willing to offer Strand and Luis safe passage. Two video clips for Episode 6 (entitled “Sicut Cervus”) of Fear The Walking Dead have been released. One shows Strand instructing the group to hide as a small boat approaches. Luis knows one of the people on board but not the other, so these must be people from the safe haven. Apparently, the plan is for Luis to take payment over to the boat and that will offer them safe passage through to Baja in Mexico. Unfortunately, it seems the people want to approach the Abigail and that is when Strand instructs Madison (Kim Dickens) to take everyone below deck and hide. The second video clip shows the group hiding. Something has obviously happened though as Daniel (Ruben Blades) is ready to go above deck. Madison tells him to wait. And then a gunshot is heard. Who has been shot? Only tuning into Episode 6 of Fear The Walking Dead will reveal all.
