Angelina Jolie for President? As rumors escalate that Angelina and Brad Pitt are trying to cope with a crumbling marriage, Jolie has acquired a political mentor. The friendship between Angelina and that mentor is designed to help the actress move into politics, an insider told Us Weekly.
Jolie and British House of Lords member Baroness Arminka Helic have developed “a close friendship.” The 40-year-old actress, her six children, and Brad made the decision to reside in London a few months ago. And although she’s gaining fame as a director as well as an actress, Angelina sees a future in politics.
As for the White House? Jolie is planning a different entry into the political arena, according to the insider.
“[Angelina] is readying herself for what could be a full-time commitment with the British government. Arminka helps Angelina make decisions about her next political move. Angie considers her a mentor.”
The two have been friends since 2012, and Helic has visited with Jolie and Pitt’s children. But while Angelina has her eyes on a political prize, is she ignoring problems in her marriage?
Divorce rumors have swirled for months, with a source telling In Touch Weekly that Jolie and Brad were planning to separate less than two years after their wedding.
The source, described as a close friend of both Angelina and Pitt, claimed that while the divorce paperwork would be filed, the two would continue to celebrate holidays and special occasions as a family for the children, who include Maddox, 14, Pax, 12, Zahara, 11, Shiloh, 9, and the twins Knox and Vivienne, 7.
“[Brad’s] ready to move on to the second phase of his life — and that no longer includes Angelina,” claimed the family friend. “They’re done.”
However, does that new chapter of his life feature another woman? A new report claims that Pitt is cheating with film star Marion Cotillard, according to Parent Herald, which cites an insider alleging that Brad has been flirting with Cotillard.
Pitt and Marion are described as having romantic chemistry, with the flirtation including cute nicknames for one another. The source also claims that although Brad and Angelina have enjoyed flirtations with others in the past, this time, Pitt is taking it too far.
“In the past, Brad and Angie have always turned a blind eye to each other’s little flirtations. As long as neither of them took it too far, they thought it actually spiced up their relationship. But Brad getting emotionally attached to Marion is totally against the rules. That’s what makes this a unique situation that could threaten their marriage.”
One report claimed that Angelina actually walked out on Brad because of his flirtation with Cotillard during the filming of their movie. That report described Pitt as “really bonding” with Marion, flirting, sharing jokes, and becoming her “one-man fan club.”
But Gossip Cop contacted someone close to Jolie and Pitt who revealed that there is “no truth” to that story.
However, new concern has grown for Jolie’s health because of her extreme weight loss, according to IBT, which cited a source describing how her father Jon Voight has become involved.
Among those worried about the actress, Voight has reached out to try to contact her. Jolie supposedly weighs only 79 pounds but refuses to respond to Voight’s efforts.
“Jon was concerned after seeing photos of his daughter looking like she was wasting away, and he called Brad,” revealed the source. “He practically begged Brad to get Angie to talk to him, but Brad had to tell him he’s about the last person Angie would want to hear from about this.”
Voight and Jolie became estranged in 2002, when Jon alleged that Angelina suffered from “serious mental problems.” Since then, although they have become somewhat closer, they still are distant. As a result, her father’s attempts to intervene with regard to her weight loss reportedly have been futile.
