Tokyo Jungle Launches September 25 On PS3

Tokyo Jungle certainly has picked a momentous day to launch on PS3 in North America. The survival, action game will arrive on September 25, 2012, the same day as the World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria expansion. The European release will take place a day later on September 26.

Featuring a city full of cute but dangerous animals, Tokyo Jungle has become extremely popular in Japan. Earlier this summer, the Japanese language version sold hundreds of thousands of copies in its very first week of release, and Sony is expecting the game to be just as popular with English speaking gamers.

The game takes place in the distant future when mankind has abandoned the earth and the streets of Tokyo have become home to a whole host of wild animals including lions, crocodiles, tigers, giraffes, hippos, cheetahs, chimpanzee, gazelle, chickens, beagles, tyrannosaurus, hyenas, and foxes.

Tokyo Jungle has two modes: Story and Survival. Story mode will require players to complete missions, which will finally reveal why humanity vanished from the earth. In Story mode, gamers will assume the character of a Pomeranian dog who has run out of food and must fight to survive in the streets of the abandoned city.

In Survival mode, players will choose a character from the list of available animals and try to survive as long as they are able against packs of wild beasts. Tokyo Jungle will offer online leader-boards, so players will be able to see how their survival skills rate against other gamers.

The latest offering from Sony for the PS3 will sell for $15 in North America. The game is selling for a great price, and fans of action packed, side scrollers should eat this one up. Will you be there to help your Pomeranian puppy survive in Tokyo’s mean streets, or will you let the cute little doggie go to its doom unaided?
