Michael Jackson’s Feud With Prince May Never Be Fully Understood

Michael Jackson’s performance during James Brown’s 1983 show resurfaced in the media recently, according to Heavy, with social media users prompted to re-watch the legendary performance after hearing the news of Prince’s death last month.

Prince, who died at the age of 57 at his Paisley Park residence last month, was introduced on the stage of Brown’s 1983 Los Angeles concert at Michael Jackson’s request. And Prince, who had transformed the music industry thanks to his fight for creative freedom, showed up onstage with a stunning guitar solo and a mesmerizing dance.

It was the moment when three soul/R&B legends were on the same stage at the same time. And the three legends — Michael Jackson, Brown, and Prince — are now dead. Prince’s death was announced by his publicist Yvette Noel-Schure.

“It is with profound sadness that I am confirming that the legendary, iconic performer, Prince Rogers Nelson, has died at his Paisley Park residence this morning at the age of 57.”

The moment during Brown’s 1983 concert, which was captured on camera, showed a brief respite in an infamous rivalry between Michael Jackson and Prince.

Black Eyed Peas member Will.i.am, who was a close friend of Prince, claims Jackson had told a few things about his dispute with Prince but didn’t go into much detail.

Will.i.am quoted Michael Jackson, saying that the King of Pop called Prince “a big meanie.” He told the Black Eyed Peas singer that Prince had always been unfriendly toward him.

“Everybody says Prince is this great legendary Renaissance man and I’m just a song-and-dance man, but I wrote ‘Billie Jean’ and I wrote ‘We Are the World’ and I’m a songwriter too.”

But Michael Jackson didn’t reveal the reason for their feud, Will.i.am claims, adding that he hoped Prince would sit down and tell the truth about the rivalry between Jackson and him.

“Before I die, I want to know what the full deal was between the two of them.”

But now that Prince is dead, it seems that no one is ever going to find out the truth behind the Michael Jackson vs. Prince feud. Unless, of course, there are people who actually know the truth but haven’t told the media about it yet.

Sky Ferreira has a few things to say about Michael Jackson; her grandmother was the King of Pop’s personal hairstylist and friend, according to People magazine. The Elvis & Nixon actress revealed a few details from her childhood, which was influenced by Michael Jackson.

At the world premiere of her movie Elvis & Nixon at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York, Ferreira revealed that back at that time, she wasn’t fully aware of Michael Jackson’s fame.

“I was so young. I never saw him in public – then one time I did and it was absolute mayhem!”

It was then she realized the extent of his fame. Ferreira said that Michael Jackson helped her out and showed her “so many things,” adding that the King of Pop influenced the actress not only as an artist but also “on a personal level.” However, the actress stopped short of calling him a mentor because “that’s a big word to put on someone like that.”

Ferreira also said that Michael Jackson was a lovely person and recalled that she used to sing for him. The actress also recalled one moment from her childhood: When she was 7-years-old, Jackson told her to sing whatever she wanted, and Ferreira decided to perform Britney Spears’ hit song “Lucky.” And according to Ferreira, Michael Jackson liked it.

“I also did the talking part in the beginning – the whole entire thing!”
