Beyonce’s Lemonade At Formation Tour Too Sour For Some? Husband Filmed Reading A Book

Beyonce is widely known for her ability to slay during her on-stage performances. But not everyone is convinced. In fact, one man gained widespread attention because he was not tuned into the Queen Bey’s dancing and singing at her Raleigh, North Carolina, show. In a clip shot by fellow concert attendee and Twitter user Michelle Gardner, John Papageorgiou was clearly seen focusing his attention on his novel as the singer belted “Drunk in Love.”

According to the team at ABC 11, Gardner stated she noticed the man quietly reading when walking to another section and could not resist recording it. Within moments of sharing, the video of Papageorgiou casually reading the book Danube Pilot by Jules Verne trended all over the Twitter universe and several news outlets.

So, Why Was He Reading?

Following Beyonce’s concert and attention from the media, Papageorgiou and his wife were contacted for insight on why the concertgoer felt compelled to read during the show. The senior couple were workers at the event for their church, with Papageorgiou working concessions and both removing chairs as part of clean up. After a long night, John just needed to relax.

“After a while, we watch the show. It was OK, and then we just sat down. I pulled up my book and start reading.”

In his defense, and to save him from backlash from Beyonce’s notorious Beyhive, the Greece native just prefers oldies to today’s pop music.

“I find Beyonce a great show woman, very attractive. Her music? Eh, fine, but not my style. I listen to ’50s, ’60s, ’70s, and a lot of Greek music.”

Beyonce has made no statement regarding Papageorgiou, but he has gotten a kick out of the comments floating on social media regarding his choice of entertainment. Many wanted to know what was so interesting that the reader did not watch the Queen Bey on stage. John confessed the book was a gift from his parents 53 years ago, and he enjoys its tales of world travels. Although he’s read the book seven or eight times, this time, it was a little more special.

What Happens After You Slay?

While John is quietly enjoying his fame, Michelle Gardner, has been blowing up since her Twitter post. From NBC to CNN, her catch of the reading at Beyonce’s Raleigh concert has been exposed on several prominent outlets. But, in a cryptic follow-up tweet, Gardner tells the world about Jimmy Fallon using her video during his late night routine — unfortunately, she states, he failed to give her credit.

Get Your Lemonade At The Formation Tour

Beyonce, at least according to fans, has spared no thrills during her Formation Tour. In the same event hosted in Raleigh, she continued to dance and serenade her audience in spite of traffic jams and heavy rainfall. After filing into formation late, guests continued to be haunted by lightning from the thunderstorm. Forced to stop the show and evacuate guests an hour into her set, the legendary performer promptly returned to the stage to finish out the night and show fans why she is Queen Bey.

Beyonce’s Formation Tour continues around the nation. Will you be there? Weigh in with your thoughts about the singer’s performances and whether John was okay to spend the time to reading his book.
