‘Hoff The Record’ Star David Hasselhoff Seeks Relief From Alimony, Cites Major Financial Distress

Hoff the Record star David Hasselhoff is facing some life-altering changes, proving that the dire circumstances in his new series are only partially fictional. While news that Hasselhoff is engaged to Hayley Roberts might seem to indicate that David is as happy as any prospective groom, recent court filings suggest that the actor, best known for his Baywatch and Knight Rider roles, is suffering financial woes that may keep him from enjoying bliss with Roberts.

Hoff The Record Star David Hasselhoff Seeks Mercy From The Courts In Alimony Case

It’s been 30 years or more since David Hasselhoff was a household name. The 80s, in particular, were kind to Hasselhoff with his successes on Knight Rider and Baywatch, earning him millions of dollars, as well as untold fame, but the actor now reveals that the riches have gone by the wayside as easily and as quickly as that fleeting popularity. Now, Hasselhoff faces hardships, partly due to the high alimony payments he’s been court ordered to pay to ex-wife, Pamela Bach.

In requesting relief from the alimony payments which total $21,000 per month, David’s court documents assert that he has only $600 and owes over $100,000 in credit card debt. Hasselhoff also states that Bach is “capable of supporting herself” and that the two children the couple share together are now adults and also supported by Hasselhoff.

Hasselhoff’s income totals $110,000 each month, but the Hoff the Record actor says that his expenses total $72,000, and, by the time he pays Bach, he’s left with virtually nothing for himself. In the court documents, David’s attorneys also point out that, since filing for divorce in 2006, David has paid Bach over $2 million in alimony.

David Hasselhoff And Hayley Roberts Prove May-December Romances Can Work

David and Hayley have been dating for five years, but, even so, the Baywatch actor says he felt some misgivings about proposing to Roberts, who is 27 years younger, because he felt he was too old for her. The 63-year-old actor ultimately decided that life is too short to let such worries keep him from happiness, because he just recently proposed to Hayley, while the couple enjoyed a beach picnic in Malibu.

“I had a saying, ‘You don’t get married because you want to live with someone, you get married because you can’t live without them,'” Hasselhoff explained. “I felt that way. I knew that I was really unhappy without her. I waited to propose because I thought I was too old for her.”

As for Roberts, the Welsh model says she doesn’t want to miss out on being happy with someone she loves, because of concerns over what may happen in the future.

David thanked his fans on Twitter for their congratulations and well wishes, tweeting that proposing to Roberts had made it “the best week ever.”

Hasselhoff and Roberts met in 2011, when they both appeared on Britain’s Got Talent.

Previously, Hasselhoff was married to Catherine Hickland from 1984 to 1989. David was married to Pamela Bach from 1989 through 2006. The Hoff the Record actor reveals that the daughters he shares with Bach were very supportive when he told them of his plans to propose to Roberts.

“I told my girls what I was going to do and they were both really supportive,” Hasselhoff said. “It’s tough. No one wants to see their parents split up. But they love Hayley and they’re just happy for me.”

Professionally, David has been actively pursuing his acting career, since returning to the United States from the U.K., where he performed on stage. In addition to Hoff the Record, Hasselhoff will be appearing in Sharknado 4: The 4th Awakens, and will also be seen in the Baywatch feature film.
