Aquille Carr, a star high school basketball player who has verbally committed to playing at Seton Hall, was arrested in Baltimore Friday for allegedly assaulting the mother of his child.

Carr, a 5-foot-6 point guard, faces two misdemeanor charges: second-degree assault and reckless endangerment.

According to the Baltimore Sun, the assault occurred after the victim, 26-year-old Treshonda Williams, informed Carr, 18, that she no longer wished to be in a relationship with him.

The Sun writes:

“Williams said that Carr asked to speak with her outside the school. An argument erupted, and she said Carr grabbed her by her shirt and threw her to the ground. He then is accused of kicking her in the back, and punching her in the head and face before fleeing in his vehicle, according to records.”

Police say that upon their arrival, Ms. Williams refused medical treatment and did not have any visual injuries but did complain of a strong pain in her arm.

Carr was arrested and taken to central booking where he was held for much of Saturday on charges of second-degree assault and reckless endangerment until posting $50,000 bond.

A court appearance for the athlete is scheduled for September 19, and online court records do not list an attorney for him.

A consensus top-100 talent, Carr is ranked as a four-star recruit and the No. 12 point guard in the Class of 2013 by Scout.com. He played at Patterson High School in Baltimore but transferred to St. Patrick in Elizabeth, New Jersey in the spring.

During his sophomore season, Carr averaged 31.3 points, 5.6 assists, and 4.5 steals.

He was expected to return to a Baltimore school this fall, according to The Sun.
