As if a fertile uterus capable of helping life come into this world wasn’t already amazing on its own, a Belgian gynecologist examining the uterus has found that it carries a score of 1.6 out of 1.618 on the “natural beauty scale.”

Jasper Veguts measured the ratio of length to the width, and, in most fertile women, that number came out to 1.6. The tests were completed with the help of ultrasound for measurement purposes. Researchers have long claimed that the “Golden Ratio” can apply not only to the most attractive smiles but also to perfection in other areas of beauty and design.

Verguts tells the Guardian (UK):

“This is the first time anyone has looked at this, so I am pleased it turned out so nicely.”

If you want to test out the 1.618 scale, it is derived from the Fibonacci sequence, a chain of numbers in which every figure is the sum of the previous two. For example, the distance between your first and second knuckles on each finger equal approximately 1.618 times the distance between the second and third.

By looking at a female’s uterus, doctors can often tell if they will have a hard time conceiving or face other uphill battles during pregnancy. The discovery of the “golden ratio” could now help doctors more precisely determine the health of a uterus and the potential for problems during pregnancy.

It should be noted that the uterus in patients were closer to the 1.6 golden ratio scale from 16 to 20 years old, the time in life when a female is typically her most fertile.
