TNA News: Former Tag Team Champion Jessie Godderz Re-Signs With TNA

Total Nonstop Action (TNA) is continuing to solidify its roster, as the company has re-signed former two-time Tag Team champion Jessie Godderz, company president Dixie Carter announced via social media on Wednesday.

Godderz, 30, has been with TNA since 2011 and is best known for his tag team with Robbie E, The BroMans. Carter praised Godderz for his attitude and work ethic in her announcement.

Known as “Mr. Pectacular” for his shredded physique, Godderz also brings a lot of outside exposure to TNA. Since 2008, Godderz has been a regular on the CBS reality show Big Brother, most recently appearing on the 17th season last year. The show is set for an 18th season later this summer, CBS announced in a press release two years ago.

Godderz has also previously appeared on MTV shows such as Next and Exposed.

Shortly after Carter’s announcement, Godderz took to Twitter and expressed excitement with continuing his career as part of the IMPACT Wrestling roster.

“HONORED to announce I’ve just re-signed w/,” Godderz wrote. “Now THAT’s PEC-Tacular!! STOKED!!”

SECURING TALENT

Despite several financial troubles, TNA continues to beef up its roster. In addition to Godderz, TNA has re-signed his tag team partner Robbie E and current half of the TNA Tag Team champions and Decay member Crazzy Steve.

The company has also signed several new talents over the last several weeks. In late March, TNA announced the signings of Jesse Guilmette (Pepper Parks), Laura Dennis (Cherry Bomb), Marshe Rockett, Thomas LaRuffa, and Mikael Vierge. LaRuffa and Vierge were previously with NXT as Sylvester Lefort and Marcus Louis.

Last week, the company also announced the signings of independent wrestling mainstays Sienna and Caleb Konley. It has been surprising to see so many signings given the rumors of the company’s woes.

COMPANY WOES

There have been droves of rumors surrounding TNA’s future. The company is reportedly looking for an investor to salvage the company. In recent years, TNA has lost several of its top-tier performers, including AJ Styles, Austin Aries, Bobby Roode, Eric Young, and Samoa Joe. With the exception of Roode — who’s reportedly in talks with WWE — all of the other competitors are currently with WWE in some form.

One of the biggest issues has been remaining on television. Since 2014, TNA has appeared on three different television networks: Spike TV, Destination America, and Pop TV. Despite issues with ratings, PWInsider (via Wrestlezone) reported last month that Pop TV is “happy with what TNA has done with Impact Wrestling since moving over to their schedule this year.”

As previously reported by The Inquistr, TNA recently moved its headquarters from Cummins Station in Nashville, Tennessee, to their ShopTNA warehouse. There were reports that TNA was evicted from their original office, a place that Carter occupied before she became involved with TNA. The warehouse — also located in Nashville — is a 25,000 square foot facility.

SECRET INVESTOR

An investor has reportedly been funding TNA until an official announcement of a purchase is made. A report from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (via 411Mania) in late April said that Aroluxe, an advertising and production agency based in Brentwood, Tennessee, has been helping TNA stay afloat.

The company paid for TNA’s last set of television tapings and is interested in purchasing a large stake in the company. Aroluxe’s CEO, David Johnson, began his career with Ring of Honor’s (ROH) parent company Sinclair Broadcasting. Also, Aroluxe currently employs former TNA performers Ron and Don Harris. However, Carter wants to retain significant control of TNA if she were to sell the company, something that has been a holdup in negotiations.

Per WON’s report, Carter went to Sony Six in India, Challenge TV in the United Kingdom. and The Fight Network in Canada with proposals of selling 10 percent to each entity. The idea was that they would help fund the company, but no deal came close.

LONGEVITY

Robbie E spoke to The Inquisitr last year as the company was in the process of finding a new television deal and undergoing financial issues. The 16-year veteran of the squared circle gave his take on the matter, praising TNA for the life and career the company has afforded him and several other talents.

“TNA hasn’t been around for 14 or 15 years, whatever it’s been around for nothing,” Robbie E said. “It’s a long-lasting company and I think it’s not going anywhere.”
