Ben Carson Will Help Donald Trump Choose His Vice President
Ben Carson, the former GOP presidential candidate, has now become an ally of Donald Trump’s campaign team after saying that he will help select the presumptive Republican nominee’s running mate.
The retired John Hopkins neurosurgeon is said to have become a part of the committee that will help the possible GOP nominee look for the right candidate for the vice presidential seat. The New York real estate mogul made the announcement during his interview with The New York Times.
The businessman shared, “I’ll set up a committee. I think on the committee I’ll have Dr. Ben Carson and some other folks.”

For now, he didn’t announce any names being thrown into the mix, but one thing is clear, he has ruled out Ohio Governor John Kasich to become his running mate. Trump has yet to declare when he will be announcing his vice presidential pick.
Ben Carson dropped out of the 2016 presidential race in March. He started to announce his support for Donald Trump a week after suspending his campaign.
Donald Trump’s announcement regarding the committee and having Dr. Ben Carson onboard came a day after his victory in Indiana. The presidential candidate’s win in Indiana prompted his rivals, Senator Ted Cruz and Ohio Governor John Kasich, to drop out of the race.

The two former presidential contenders gave their concession speeches, but they did not say whether they would be supporting the billionaire businessman.
As for the retired neurosurgeon, he said in a recent interview that he thinks Senator Cruz would be great in the Supreme Court or would be a “terrific attorney general.” He suggested, “He could be attorney general first, you know, go ahead and prosecute Hillary, and then go on the Supreme Court.”
Carson was also asked about Trump’s running mate and the doctor said that he did not want the presumptive Republican nominee to pick him. He added that he would advise Trump “to pick someone who really is willing and able to take a significant part of the load.”
The former neurosurgeon also said in another interview that Trump’s running mate should be someone who has plenty of experience in politics and on the world stage.
PBS news anchor Judy Woodruff also interviewed Dr. Carson for NewsHour, and when asked if he thinks Donald Trump would be changing his tone regarding his views now that he is the possible Republican nominee, the retired neurosurgeon said that the candidate he is supporting will now focus on the important issues.
He pointed out that the process of gaining the nomination involves a mud-fight, but now that the path is clear for him, Donald Trump will now be talking about innovative solutions for the problems of the United States.

As for prominent Republican politicians saying that they will not support Donald Trump, Dr. Ben Carson said that many of Trump’s GOP detractors will likely change their stance in the coming months as he is the only representative of the Republican Party. He also said that Trump has a lot of knowledge regarding foreign policy, unlike what many believe.
One problem that has haunted the Trump campaign is his lack of popularity with among minority groups of voters such as Hispanics, African-Americans, and women.
Dr. Ben Carson said, “Well, I think he’s going to begin to address those, certainly going to begin talking about the kinds of programs that provide ladders of opportunity that will give a person the ability to climb out of a state of dependency, utilizing their own God-given talents and strengths and hard work.”
