WWE Rumor: John Cena Vs. Undertaker May Be The Co-Main-Event At ‘WrestleMania 33’

John Cena vs. Undertaker was originally planned for this year’s WrestleMania 32, but the former 15-time World Heavyweight Champion suffered a shoulder injury, which forced WWE to find a new opponent for “The Deadman.” Of course, that opponent turned out to be Shane McMahon.

After his match with the returning Shane O’Mac, Undertaker reportedly told Vince McMahon that he was retiring and “The Phenom” was pulled from WWE’s European tour shortly thereafter. As of right now, it looks like Undertaker is done wrestling, but according to Cageside Seats, the WWE Chairman has a plan to get his greatest creation to come out of retirement.

Apparently, the WWE Chairman wants to have Undertaker take on John Cena at next year’s WrestleMania 33 in Orlando, Florida, because he believes that “The Deadman” would gladly come out of retirement to go one-on-one with a star the caliber of John Cena.

“Even though Undertaker reportedly told Vince McMahon he’s retired, the Chairman is fine-tuning a sales pitch to get ‘The Deadman’ to come back to face John Cena at WrestleMania 33.”

Undertaker and Cena have rarely crossed paths during their time in WWE, which is why Vince McMahon wants to make that match-up. Also, if the match ends up being made, it’ll co-headline next year’s WrestleMania along with Brock Lesnar vs The Rock, which is another match WWE has wanted to do for quite some time.

Vince McMahon reportedly had his top six matches all planned out for WrestleMania 32 a year in advance, but unfortunately, injuries to top stars like Seth Rollins, Randy Orton, and John Cena forced Vince to create new matches for the event.

Now, it looks like the WWE Chairman has his top two matches planned for next year’s event, but a lot can change between now and then.

The original plan for WrestleMania 32 was for The Rock to wrestle Triple H. But an insurance issue prevented The Rock from wrestling at the event.

As previously mentioned, an injury forced John Cena out of WrestleMania 32, and the same thing could end up happening leading into WrestleMania 33. So, even though the plan is for Cena to wrestle Undertaker next year, that doesn’t necessarily mean that it’ll happen.

As for whether Undertaker is retired or not, well, several people, including WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross, don’t believe that he’s retired and that he’ll be wrestling at next year’s big event in Orlando, if not sooner.

Undertaker has only wrestled once a year over the last few years, with the exception of this past year, where he wrestled several times. It was reported that Undertaker was in better shape than he had been in several years, which is why he decided to be a bit more active in 2015.

While his WrestleMania 32 match with Shane McMahon wasn’t particularly great, Undertaker didn’t look like he was in bad shape during the match. So, it doesn’t seem like an injury is making him decide to retire from the ring, but you never know.

There were a ton of people who predicted that Undertaker would retire following WrestleMania 32, and, at least for now, it looks like those predictions were right on the money.

Bryan Alvarez of the Wrestling Observer has speculated that something may have happened between Undertaker and Vince McMahon following this year’s event at AT&T Stadium, which is why “The Phenom” decided to tell Vince that he’s retiring. If something did happen between the WWE Chairman and “The Deadman,” it hasn’t come out yet.

Will Undertaker end up wrestling again? Time will tell. But if he does decide to come back, he’ll likely be in the ring with John Cena next year in Orlando.
