Apple Watch Fans React To Apple Watch Flop Reports

The Inquisitr, like some other sites, recently wrote an article about the Apple Watch being a flop. The title of the article said it was Apple’s biggest flop in years. The article itself explained why Apple’s smartwatch device is considered a disappointment.

“There was a lot of hype for the Apple Watch in early 2015. It was supposed to be the device that changed our wrists forever. It was supposed to be the device that changed the way we think about mobile technology.”

The article summarized different media reports to make what could be seen as a logical reason why the Apple Watch didn’t take off. Still, commenters after the article were furious.

“If the Apple Watch is a flop and it’s the best selling smart watch on the market…. What do you label the other smart watches? This is the irony I keep seeing from all the people claiming it to be a dud or flop. How can you be the worst and the best at the same time?” asked Pastor Keithron Powell.

“Who decides whether Apple Watch is a failure or not? Couldn’t it be said then that the entire smartwatch market is a flop because very few people are wearing smartwatches? If someone sets really high expectations and the product doesn’t live up to those expectations, does that really mean the product is a flop?” asks Steffen Jobbs.

According to BGR, raw sales data proves the Apple Watch is not a flop.

“According to analysts’ consensus ahead of Apple’s fiscal second-quarter earnings report on Tuesday, Apple is thought to have sold between 12 million and 13 million Apple Watches during the device’s first year of availability,” claims columnist Zach Epstein, who adds that the sales double those of the first year of iPhone sales.

The article also notes that the Apple Watch made $6 billion in revenue. Most of the comments after the article disagree with the author.

“Flawed comparison. The first iPhone was launched as a single model, on a single carrier, in a single country at full retail price by a company that has no track record in phones at a time when the phone model was free flip phone,” claims LtinJ.

“Even Apple fans admitted that the Apple watch was simply a poor, overpriced rip off of other smartwatches that were released before it,” says Natural Gamer.

On Twitter, many have mocked the concept of the Apple Watch flopping.

The second generation Apple Watch is set to be released later this year. According to Mac Rumors, the Watch could have cellular network connectivity, a FaceTime camera, a faster processor, more storage memory, and other improvements. As people who have defended the Watch have constantly noted, some of Apple’s other first generation products were flawed but became technological marvels in later productions. Do you think a lot more people will be wearing the Apple Watch one year from now? Let us know what you think in the comments section.
