Selena Gomez & Justin Bieber: She Avoids Run-In With Hailey Baldwin, Hangs With Miranda Kerr
Selena Gomez reportedly skipped the 2016 Met Gala after party in order to avoid a potential run-in with Justin Bieber and his other ex-girlfriend, Hailey Baldwin.
Although Selena Gomez attended the 2016 Met Gala as the date of co-chair Taylor Swift, her longtime best friend (the women also went to the 2016 Grammy Awards together earlier this year), she called it a night after the event, choosing to have a low-key dinner with three of her friends instead of hitting the party circuit in New York City.
“[Selena Gomez] and her girls were supposed to go to the after-party at The Boom Boom Room, but when she found out Justin was going to be there, she changed her plans. She didn’t want to be there with Justin and Hailey. It’s a small place and that would just be way too uncomfortable,” a source told Hollywood Life on May 4.
Bieber dated Baldwin briefly earlier this year.

Selena Gomez and Bieber dated for about 2 years from 2010 to 2012 and ever since, they have been spotted together frequently. However, after their most recent encounter, things appeared to go sour.
In early March, months after Selena Gomez was spotted with Bieber in Los Angeles, Bieber shared a throwback photo of the two of them with his fans on Instagram which featured them kissing. After “liking” the photo and adding the comment, “Perfect,” Selena Gomez showed her support for Bieber’s singing career by attending one of his Purpose Tour shows in Los Angeles.
At that point, claimed a source, Bieber was sold on the idea of a reconciliation and planned an elaborate late-night treat for Selena Gomez after the show. However, after things between them reportedly took a turn for the worse, he called off his plans.
In late March, E! News revealed Bieber was planning to rent out the Staples Center for a private screening of Titanic after his concert before a possible feud with Selena Gomez prompted him to change his mind.
According to the report, Bieber was “off” the entire day leading up to what was supposed to be a big night for him and Selena Gomez, and during his show, he was hinting that he wasn’t happy to be there. In fact, after canceling a meet and greet with fans, Bieber left his concert 20 minutes early with Selena Gomez, which forced Skrillex to close the show himself.
Although no exact reason for Bieber’s screening cancellation was given, the source said there was speculation regarding a possible argument between him and Selena Gomez.
Prior to the 2016 Met Gala, another source spoke to Hollywood Life, claiming Selena Gomez was concerned that Bieber would also be attending.
“[Selena Gomez] is super excited to be with her girls tonight,” a source told the outlet on Monday. “She’s not sure if Justin is going to be at MET Gala or not, which can be a little nerve-wracking, but she’s just relieved she’ll have friends there with her… She knows that they will have a blast together and she’s excited to see what everyone is wearing. Plus she’s wearing a gorgeous outfit. She just wants to have a fun, stress free time.”
Although Selena Gomez doesn’t appear to have run into Bieber or Baldwin, she was seen with model Miranda Kerr, who was allegedly involved with Bieber years ago. However, things between the two women appeared to be completely civil and Kerr later shared a photo of herself and Selena Gomez on Instagram along with two heart emojis.

Selena Gomez and Bieber have not been spotted together since March and don’t appear to have had any additional interactions on social media.
