Eddie Murphy Welcomes Baby No. 9, First Child With Girlfriend Paige Butcher
Eddie Murphy has nine kids and counting. The actor and comedian has welcomed his ninth child, a baby girl, with his girlfriend of four years, Paige Butcher, according to People. Nine years after his last child was born, Eddie Murphy and his longtime love are celebrating the arrival of daughter Izzy Oona Murphy. The baby girl arrived Tuesday, May 3, and weighed 7 lbs 15 ounces.

While this is the first child for Butcher, Eddie Murphy has eight other kids with three other women, including a nine-year-old daughter, Angel, with former Spice Girl Melanie Brown. Eddie’s other kids are Eric, 26; Christian, 25; Bria, 25; Myles, 22; Shayne, 21; Zola, 15; and Bella, 13. Murphy’s oldest two kids are with former girlfriends Tamara Hood Johnson and Paulette McNeely and he had the next five with his ex-wife Nicole Mitchell Murphy.
While Eddie Murphy juggles relationships with multiple baby mamas, he seems to be on good terms with them all —even Mel B., who forgave him for some earlier comments about their child’s paternity. In 2012, Eddie’s ex-wife Nicole told Radar Online she maintains a friendly relationship with the actor.
“Eddie and I are friends,” Nicole Murphy said, “He’s my babies’ daddy, so we speak to each other and have a great relationship and I think that’s important when you have children involved.”
According to People, Mel B. previously revealed that her baby with Eddie Murphy was totally planned and that they had even talked about marriage, so she was stunned when Murphy told a Dutch TV show that he didn’t know “whose child that is until it comes out and has a blood test.”
“I laughed because that wasn’t the guy that I knew who told me he wanted to have a baby and get married,” Mel B. said. “I just didn’t believe it. When I saw it my heart dropped down to my gut.”
Still, paternity tests proved that Eddie Murphy was baby Angel’s father, and since then he has stepped up to the plate in a big way. Mel told The Guardian that she and Eddie even spend time with their daughter together.
“We go over there as a family, we have dinners together, everything is fine… now,” she said. “He’s a great guy. Look, we fell in love with each other, we had a gorgeous child together. Some of my friends don’t even see their exes and they’ve got kids together.”
As for Eddie Murphy’s newest baby mama, it sounds like Paige Butcher has a very maternal side to her. The 36-year-old model works with several charities that cater to children. In a 2013 interview with Vanity Fair, Eddie Murphy’s longtime love said she is a “nurturer” who “loves taking care of people” and has special experience working with kid-related causes.
“Here [in L.A.] I volunteer at homeless shelters,” Paige said. “I look after the children while the parents go through counseling. The recent one I’m on every week is called Baby to Baby, which is a nonprofit for women that have children and are living below the poverty line, so the charity sends care packages with toys, things for the kids, diapers, strollers, and stuff. So I go there and help them out.”
Eddie Murphy clearly has plenty of diaper duty experience, and he now joins several other celebrity dads who have eight or more kids, including Mel Gibson, Rod Stewart, and George Foreman.
