Joey Kovar Autopsy Inconclusive, Toxicology Results Pending

The autopsy conducted on Joey Kovar Saturday was inconclusive, the Chicago Tribune reports. The Real World: Hollywood and Celebrity Rehab 3 star was found dead in south suburban Chicago Ridge Friday morning.

The cause of death is pending toxicological test results. Police said no foul play was suspected but that they were conducting an investigation.

Kovar’s family said he had been sober for six months and had been working on a new project. His brother, David Kovar, said he was doing better and seemed happy when family members spoke to him Thursday evening. Contrary to what had been previously reported by TMZ, the family did not suspect a drug overdose. He said:

“That is not what anyone is suspecting, my brother was doing very well. Everything was going very well. The very, very last thing that our family is suspecting is drugs.”

Kovar, a native of Evergreen Park, Chicago and former personal trainer and body builder, was discovered by a talent scout when he was 24. He continued to live in his hometown as he began making a name for himself on the reality shows and spent his free time with his 2-year-old daughter and 3-year-old son. David Kovar said that his brother never let fame go to his head and that his life revolved around his children and he was “still about being by family.”

In a 2009 interview, Joey Kovar told the Tribune that he believed his honesty about his drug use and partying as well as his personality were why MTV picked him up for Real World: Hollywood.
