Kim Kardashian & Kanye West Win Met Gala Best Dressed Couple, Mocked With Beyoncé In Memes & Tweets [Photos]
Kim Kardashian and Kanye West earned the title of Vogue Online’s “Best Dressed Couple” at the Met Gala 2016. Proud that he and Kim had deserved that honor, Kanye promptly headed to Twitter to issue his acceptance speech, reported Us Weekly.
The Met Gala ranks as the “Grammys of style,” proclaimed West. He proceeded to send out six tweets that ranged from excitement about the gala to appreciation for Anna Wintour and designer Olivier Rousteing for assisting the couple to earn the honor.
When Kardashian was planning her attire for the event, she cut up two of the four designer gowns that she had received. But all that time and worry about what to wear was worth it, according to her gushing husband.
“I’m really excited to get our first best dressed at the met…” he tweeted proudly. “This Gala is like the Grammys of style!”
He expressed appreciation for his own outfit, as well as for Kardashian’s dazzling gems and even her hair glam squad.
“And thank you for turning my personal jean jacket into a couture piece.also to Kim’s hair and makeup Lorraine jewelry and the whole style squad at Balmain and the Yeezy team,” added the 38-year-old.
During the last four years, West and Kardashian have been praised and panned for their style choices, ranging from fringe to fashion firsts such as an odd sleeve-glove hybrid. However, this year Kim and her spouse were distinct contrasts.
Kardashian opted for custom Balmain with a theme of sizzling silver rippling with robot glamour.
“I kind of wanted a silver theme. I felt everyone was gonna go with that. I still really wanted to do it. I thought Balmain was the perfect choice for me and Kanye especially. I wanted to be a blingy sexy robot,” shared Kim.
And there was one member of her household who immediately viewed Kardashian’s gown as an object of desire.
While Kardashian dazzled in silver, her husband chose a more low-key, subdued choice by combining a custom Balmain x Yeezy jacket, white t-shirt, tan boots and ripped jeans. As for those blue contacts?
“Vibes,” explained West.
While Kanye was feeling the vibes, Twitter was seeing a good chance to mock Kim and her husband, as well as Beyoncé and other celebrities, noted Us Weekly.

And although Kim has repeatedly talked about her weight loss success, some Twitter users felt that she wasn’t quite there.
“Kim looks like a silver stuffed sausage,” tweeted one such individual.
But Beyoncé also got her share of harsh criticism.
But it wasn’t just the women who were mocked on social media. Kanye received some sass because of his contacts, pointed out Billboard.

Some compared Kim’s husband to a vampire because of his eyes.

As for what prompted all the robotic looks? The Met Gala 2016 theme was Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology, clarified the Los Angeles Times.
And that’s why the description that Kardashian crafted for her vision summed it up so perfectly.
“Blingy, sexy robot,” shared Kim.
Kardashian and West were not alone in opting for Balmain. Those also going for the sexy robot style were Kim’s sister Kylie Jenner, Cindy Crawford and Jourdan Dunn.
Deserving extra credit for staying true to the theme? Zayn Malik, who managed to slip into a custom black Versace suit and molded metal arms.
