Adam Levine Leaving ‘The Voice’? Maroon 5 Frontman Wants To Focus On Fatherhood

The Voice has already revealed surprising changes for the upcoming season. Coaches have come and gone in the past, but NBC recently announced that both Christina Aguilera and Pharrell Williams are leaving after this season. Now, it appears as though Adam Levine might be following their lead. Why is the Maroon 5 frontman deciding to leave the show?

According to Health Aim, Levine is leaving the series because he no longer wants to be a part of the show and instead wants to focus on his family with wife and Victoria’s Secret model Behati Prinsloo. The two are getting ready to have their first child together, and Levine consequently wants to be around to help with the baby.

“Adam’s been there since the very beginning and feels like it’s time to move on,” a source explained. “[Adam] wants to concentrate on his music and start a family with his wife.”

Not only does he want to spend more time with his family, but his dislike of fellow judge Blake Shelton might be another reason Levine wants to leave The Voice. According to Broadway World, Levine recently appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and revealed his dislike for Shelton.

“I don’t like him at all,” Levine told Fallon. “It’s pretty alarming how little I have in common with Blake Shelton.”

Despite the report, Levine’s comments were most likely meant to be taken with a grain of salt. Since the first season of The Voice, Levine and Shelton have had a friendly rivalry and seem to be friends off camera. It has even been rumored that Levine was a driving force behind Shelton getting together with fellow judge Gwen Stefani last year.

That being said, Adam Levine has not confirmed his departure from the show after this season. In fact, another insider told Hollywood Life that Levine is not leaving the series anytime soon.

“Adam would stay with The Voice and will stay with The Voice even if he becomes a father,” the source shared. “The amount of time he would have to be away really wouldn’t be that much. He could easily do both. The Voice schedule would offer no neglect to family duties and he would be able to do it because The Voice would be accommodating to all of his needs. They would all be able to work out a proper schedule to make it all work.”

At this point, it isn’t clear what Levine plans to do after the end of the current season. Considering how long he has been a part of the series, it is likely that he could be ready to move on to other projects. This is especially true if Levine wins this season, which would mark the fourth time he’s won the competition.

In an interview with Today, Levine discussed his chances of winning and how he still has two contestants from his team who made it to the final 10.

“I’m excited. It’s a lot of competition this season; there are a lot of great singers,” Levine shared. “Honest to God, I love to win, winning is great. But it’s kind of more fulfilling and rewarding to treat it like it is a big workshop. If we win we win, and if we don’t we still did a lot of great things and everyone is happy.”

Levine went on to discuss his thoughts on Prince’s recent passing and his upcoming baby. Not only did Levine admit that Prince is already missed, but he also shared how excited he is to become a father.

“So excited, so pumped. It’s happening so fast too. I can’t wait,” he stated.

Considering everything that is going on in Levine’s life, it is hard to tell what his future with The Voice will entail. Whether or not he leaves is yet to be seen, but it is clear that he won’t completely cut ties with the show if he does step down this year.

“He’s totally open to coming back in the future as a mentor,” the source added.
