Mila Kunis Reveals How Being A Mother Changed Her Life: ‘Having A Kid Made Me Realize How Incredibly Selfless I Want to Be’

We all know Mila Kunis as that haughty, self-centered girl on the Fox Network comedy sitcom, That 70’s Show. Mila the actress, however, is anything but self-centered, at least since she gave birth to daughter Wyatt Isabelle in October 2014. In fact, being a mother made Mila realize just how “incredibly selfless” she wants to be.

In her exclusive interview with ET, Kunis opens up about how her life changed for the better since she gave birth to her daughter with husband Ashton Kutcher last year.

“I reprioritized my life, in all honesty,” Kunis told ET‘s Cameron Mathison. “I traveled through all my 20s and I was very selfish… In a good way, not in a way I regret. And I think having a kid made me realize how incredibly selfless I want to be.”

That said, Mila’s dedication to being a great mother presents an interesting contrast to the role she’ll be playing in the upcoming film Bad Moms, a comedy that “explores the struggles of mastering motherhood.” Kunis will star alongside Kristen Bell, Christina Applegate, Jada Pinkett Smith, Kathryn Hahn, and Annie Mumolo.

Mila Kunis plays the role of Amy, an overachieving mother of two kids who is struggling to maintain control of both her career and life at home. Struggling with the burden that comes with trying to be a perfect mother and an accomplished career woman, she finally lost her school at a school PTA meeting. She, along with Bell and Hahn’s characters, decides to scrap the parenting rules she tried so hard to live up to and chose instead to indulge herself in parties and many other excesses. During this period in her life, she discovers what it means to be a perfect mom.

Mila Kunis the actress is no stranger when it comes to discovering what it means to be a good mother. In her interview, Kunis talked at length how being a mother changed how she looks at life, as well as how it made her want to be as selfless as she can be.

“It does change the way you think and look at life,” Kunis added. “I would never trade it for the world… But I know that when we decided to have a kid, we were ready to no longer be selfish. Or at least start the process, because innately, as humans, we are really selfish people.”

“You learn how to be a great partner and great wife and a great woman and be yourself and still be responsible for you know, a living child,” Mila said. “It’s definitely a learning process.”

“I can let loose as much as I want, but at 6:45 in the morning she’s awake, so so am I,” she said. “They don’t care that I let loose the night before… Honestly, I don’t know what letting loose means, probably not going to sleep at 9:30.”

In an interview with Belfast Telegraph, Kutcher described his married life with Kunis as “wonderful,” adding that he “couldn’t ask for a better partner in life.”

Kutcher also talked fondly of their then-one-year-old daughter.

“My daughter has better hair than Donald Trump, but she debates similar to him. If it’s not what she wants, then you’re just flat out wrong,” Ashton said.

While talking about her experiences as a mother, Kunis opened up why she thinks her daughter is “crazy.”

“She’s crazy,” Kunish joked. “Kids are crazy. I don’t really understand how they’re are all alive.”

Mila revealed that her daughter with Ashton is fond of putting herself in dangerous situations, which is why she always has to keep her eye on her.

“Prior to human acknowledgement of ‘Hey, let me keep my child safe,’ if [Wyatt] was here, she would just walk off the ledge,” said Kunis. “She has no concept of depth, which to me… I just don’t get it.”
