You may not like Tim Tebow, but let’s face it. The dude is a giant sweetheart. He’s an old-fashioned Captain freakin’ America, what with the religion, the aversion to curse words, and the virginity. Maybe that’s why a recent picture of Tebow holding a baby Jets fan is drawing so many innocent laughs today. Or maybe, the outright irony of the picture, encapsulating how so many Jets fans feel about Tebow’s spot on the team, is the real draw.

“Anyone who has ever had any interactions with children is well aware of the fact that if a baby does not want to be held by a particular person, it most certainly will let you know just how unhappy it is about being put in an uncomfortable position,” writes YardBarker. Still, you don’t have to be a politician to draw such a reaction from the mouths of babes. You could be a controversial second-string QB pick like Tim Tebow.

For all intents and purposes, Tebow is “extremely personable,” and it’s hard to imagine there exists a single “non-nurturing bone” in his body. Still the baby pictured wearing a Jets t-shirt looks absolutely terrified in the warm, loving arms of Tebow. The recent Jets addition looks well-aware of the incident as well, smiling and laughing that way we uncomfortably do when children are terrified for absolutely no reason.

Maybe someone whispered a little bit about Tebow’s recent missionary work into the baby’s ear. Tebow famously spent his spring break in the Philippines circumcising children, according to DeadSpin. Oh yes, you read that right.

“The first time, it was nerve-racking,” he said. “Hands were shaking a little bit. I mean, I’m cutting somebody. You can’t do those kinds of things in the United States. But those people really needed the surgeries. We needed to help them.”

That’s enough to inspire terror in anyone.
