First Trailer For ‘American Horror Story: Asylum’ Is Released [Video]

FX has released the first trailer for American Horror Story: Asylum, CinemaBlend reports. The 18-second clip doesn’t offer much information about to expect for the second season of the hit horror show, but it is every bit as creepy as fans would expect. You can watch the trailer below.

Co-creator Ryan Murphy is keeping pretty quiet about what the new season will entail, but a few details have been released so far. Season 1 cast members Zachary Quinto, Even Peters, Lily Rabe, Sarah Paulson and Jessica Lange will be returning, albeit in different roles. Quinto — who played Chad, one half of the gay couple who previously owned the “Murder House” — will be playing a doctor at the asylum for the criminally insane where the new season will be set.

Lange will play a nun who runs the asylum — a definite departure from her character, Constance, in the first season. Murphy recently said that the new character would be a heroine and villain and Lange told the Hollywood Reporter:

“She’s very different. She’s also a survivor. I’m not even sure where we’re going with her, but there are certain elements of their [her new character and Constance’s] history that are definitely shared.”

Also joining the cast are Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine, Jenna Dewan-Tatum, James Cromwell, Joseph Fiennes, Chloe Sevigny and Clea Duvall.

Ryan Murphy said that American Horror Story: Asylum is “about sanity and tackling real-life horrors.” He said the asylum was previously a tuberculosis ward, but that it “also signifies a place of haven for the unloved and the unwanted.”
