Drag Queen Barbie Doll Created By The Blonds

There really is a Barbie Doll for everyone. Mattel has released Barbie Dolls with political aspirations. They’ve made Barbie Dolls for fans of The Hunger Games. And earlier this year they released a bald Barbie Doll to cheer up cancer patients. Mattel’s latest creation is a “Drag Queen” Barbie Doll modeled off of fashion designer and cross-dresser, Phillipe Blond.

The Blonds Blond Diamond Barbie Doll isn’t referred to as a “Drag Queen,” but it was modeled after and partly created by Phillipe Blond.

According to the Daily Mail, Phillipe and David Blond from the fashion label The Blonds have expressed their love for the famous doll since the company was created in 2007.

Mattel commissioned Phillipe and David to create a Barbie, and the result is the The Blonds Blond Diamond Barbie Doll, Mattel’s first drag queen Barbie.

Cathy Cline, vice president of marketing with Mattel, said:

“One of the great things about Barbie is that she continues to push the envelope. Barbie doesn’t worry about what other people think.”

Phillipe Blond told the Daily Mail:

“Fashion is a form of self-expression and we believe that everyone should feel glamorous every day.”

What do you think of the drag queen Barbie?

Phillipe Blond isn’t the only person who looks like a real-life Barbie doll. Check out these photos of Valeria Lukyanova, a model who wants to look exactly like the famous toy.
