Romaine Lettuce Recall Expands To All 50 States, Canada

New York, NY (AHN) – Tanimura & Antle, Inc. of Salinas, California has expanded its recall of potentially contaminated romaine lettuce to include all 50 states as well as Puerto Rico and Canada.

“We very much regret the inconvenience that the recall may have caused our consumers and customers,” CEO Rick Antle said in a statement. “Food safety and consumer health are our top priorities.”

Originally, Tanimura & Antle issued a 29-state recall after tests from the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture found Salmonella. However, since romaine destined for wholesale was also affected, the company says products could easily have been sold outside the original target area.

The recall includes single, whole head romaine lettuce. None of the company’s other romaine hearts or products have reportedly been affected.
