One Direction Boys Get Behind Fans On Project Home Day

If you are not a fan of One Direction, you are doubtless wondering what on Earth “Project Home” is. Put simply, “Project Home” is an initiative by One Direction fans to prove to the band, the media, and the wider world that One Direction are still relevant even whilst they are on hiatus. The aim of “Project Home” is for fans to self release One Direction’s song “Home” as a self release and push it all the way to No. 1.

Many One Direction fans were saddened when “Home” did not appear on the band’s recent Made In The A.M. album, though it did appear on the special Japanese release of the album. The song was originally released as a promotional track for the official single “Perfect.” One Direction fans are determined to put that right by encouraging other fans to buy and stream the track from today onward in an attempt to push it to the top of the Billboard chart. In effect One Direction fans have used the power of social media to band together to promote and buy the song.

According to Sugarscape, the One Direction fans behind the project picked “Home” because it resonates strongly with many One Direction fans.

“‘Home’ was chosen since it resonates so strongly with LGBTQ+ One Direction fans. The purpose of this project is to promote the song ‘Home’, which was released on the Perfect (EP) and was not part of the album. The song deserves way more attention and recognition than it’s gotten.

“Our goal is to bring more attention to the song. We are fan releasing the song on April 29th after a week of promo leading up to that day. We are continuing promo after the release to get the song to No 1.”

One Direction fans have been encouraged to use a different Twitter hashtag each day this week to help raise awareness of the project. Unreality TV reports that today is the unofficial release date, and One Direction fans have been buying and streaming the song as well as contacting local radio stations and asking them to play the song.

This is not the first time that One Direction fans have shown exactly how powerful the fandom is. Last year, a similar project sent the single “No Control” all the way to the top of the charts.

“Home” was jointly written by One Direction’s Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson, who have thrown their weight behind the project. While One Direction have no direct involvement in the “Home” project, three of the band’s members have acknowledged the fans’ efforts.

Liam Payne, who co-wrote “Home,” took to Twitter to thank One Direction fans for their efforts, admitting that he too loves the song. Liam also tweeted his thanks to a radio presenter who had played “Home” on his show.

It was reported in The Inquisitr yesterday that Louis Tomlinson had also thanked One Direction fans for “making him smile.” Niall Horan has also made comment about the project on social media.

So, three out of four One Direction members have acknowledged an incredible effort by One Direction fans to drive this unofficial project. This is yet another example of just how powerful the One Direction fandom can be. Sadly, One Direction’s Harry Styles is to date the only member of the band who has not made any comment about project “Home.” Harry has not posted on social media for a week, but who would bet against Styles breaking his silence to help One Direction fans drive “Home” to the top of the charts?
