Penelope Cruz Dons Mario Costume After Losing Bet To Sister Monica [Video]

It’s a tough call, but Penelope Cruz probably wins the sexiest Mario award over Bob Hoskins.

The Pirates of the Carribean actress and her beautiful sister Monica star in a new commercial for the new Mario Bros. 2 for Nintendo 3DS. Cruz and Monica compete head-to-head in the new game and the stakes are incredibly high. The loser has to put on a Mario costume and do her best Italian plumber accident.

Well, Penelope loses.

The Cruz sisters may seem a bit out of place for a gaming commercial but Laurent Fischer, the Managing Director of Marketing and PR for Nintendo of Europe, said:

“Teaming up with the Cruz sisters is a perfect fit for us. Not only because New Super Mario Bros. 2 lets two players enjoy the entire adventure playing as brothers Mario and Luigi simultaneously but because these sisters have been genuine fans of the series for many years… The co-op mode really brought out their competitive sides and they had a lot of fun trying to collect as many coins as possible while racing to finish each level first.”

The new Mario game will be available for download tomorrow, August 17th.
