Taylor Swift: Why Julia Roberts Is A Big Fan, Plus, Will She Call Ezekiel Elliott?

When Taylor Swift asked Julia Roberts to join her onstage in the Santa Clara, California, leg of her concert tour based on her album entitled 1989, the Pretty Woman star froze. Although she eventually acquiesced, Roberts had no idea how it was all going to play out. She told The Ellen DeGeneres Show recently how her two kids encouraged her to accept the TaySwift invite. Her youngest kid, however, would advise her like a sage: “Mommy, only go if you’re comfortable about it.”

So up the stage, Julia Roberts went, said People. She had such a great time sharing the limelight with Taylor Swift onstage that looking back, she absolutely has no regrets about taking Taylor Swift‘s hand. And neither does Roberts’ three children: twins Hazel and Phinnaeus, 11, and Henry, 8.

“They all love Taylor Swift, she is just No. 1 in our house. That was their first concert ever. It was fun, we took a bunch of friends and we had a great time.”

Fashion-wise, at least, Taylor Swift cannot hide her admiration for Julia Roberts. For example, in one of her romantic dinners with her boyfriend, Calvin Harris, Swift has been spotted by People recently as sporting the Pretty Woman look. So Pretty Woman, in fact, that one might just as well had played the hit movie’s theme song as the Taylor-Harris tandem walked out of the Beverly Hillshire Hotel’s iconic revolving doors.

Julia Roberts only wore a simple T-shirt and jeans combination on the night of the Taylor Swift callout, as it was so last-minute, she did not have time to prepare. The Pretty Woman tip when caught in a similar situation?

At least, be sure to smell nice. And from the looks of how that concert night unfolded with Taylor Swift and her legionary following, the advice made perfect sense. There was a lot of dancing and jumping upstage, so having good hygiene, a lightly scented perfume, and deodorant would definitely have a great bearing on how the night out would go.

Many fashion observers have recently called out Taylor Swift’s style of dressing. The buzzword nowadays for the TaySwift fashion sense is “evolving.” This single word to describe the artist’s fashion statement is referring to sometimes going rugged, bleaching hair, and perhaps most memorably, wearing chokers.

Indeed, so obsessed is Taylor Swift with wearing chokers that one of them, a 1990s-inspired look, has a $2,185 price tag, according to Us Weekly. But then again, you can’t please anyone. Someone has objected poignantly to the Swift fashion mantra that the choker is the new flower crown.

None other than fashionista Alexa Chung has challenged Taylor Swift’s fashion pronouncements. Chung confided the following to USA Today.

“Oh, my God, the choker is so dead. There is a certain thing with trends when they reach a tipping point and that tipping point to me, with the choker, seems to have happened a few months ago.”

By the way, the original promoter of the choker fashion statement was no less than Kim Kardashian. Somehow, on Taylor Swift’s neck, the choker concept would adopt a sexy, slightly vampiric, and even 50 Shades of Grey undertones for the singer.

In other celebrity news, Ezekiel Elliott is dreaming of a phone call from Taylor Swift, now that he’s been drafted to prime-time football. TMZ recently reminded readers how the football player has sent a lone tweet that has not yet been responded to by Swift. The said tweet invited Swift to an after-concert dinner on September 17, 2015.

Urban Meyer has advised Elliot to wait, as he just might get a call from the “Shake It Off” singer. Maybe a tweet back from Swift, but a dinner? Perhaps not, especially considering that Taylor Swift is happily in a relationship with dance artist Calvin Harris. In a shoutout to Harris during the iHeartRadio Music Awards, fans remember Taylor as being extremely grateful for having someone to come home to after a hard day’s work, and she wasn’t referring to her lovely cats.

One of Swift’s secrets of success, she recently disclosed, is having a close circle of friends with whom she can safely brainstorm music composition ideas and other important matters. Taylor Swift also insists that she doesn’t have any plastic friends. For someone who is recognized as one of the glam queens of Tinseltown, this is so hard to believe. It’s amazing how she has managed to keep or maintain some pretty distinct hometown and country values after all these years of immersion in celebrity culture. But tweeting back Elliott, that is a Taylor Swift call.
