Have Beyoncé & Mariah Carey Teamed Up For A New Duet?

Beyoncé and Mariah Carey may have teamed-up for a new duet.

Rumors are swirling that Mariah and Beyoncé have collaborated on a new song after video director and cinematographer Diane Martel allegedly took to Instagram to tease that she was working with both Mariah and Beyoncé on a top secret project.

According to Elle, Martel posted a snap of Carey and Beyoncé to her official Instagram page alongside the caption “Working with these two on something special. Can’t wait to show u,” which got fans speculating that the director may be producing a music video for the pop divas.

The director later took to Instagram to post another cryptic hint about a potential duet between Mariah and Beyoncé, which was captured by Mariah Carey Twitter update account Mariah Carey Italia.

According to the Carey account, Diane Martel also hinted that a Carey and Beyoncé collaboration is on the horizon after sharing yet another hint on the social media site.

“Diane Martel just posted a new hint about the @MariahCarey and @Beyoncé collaboration,” Twitter fan @MariahCareyITA tweeted out alongside the screen shot on April 27, adding “Something is coming!” with a cryptic graphic.

While it’s not yet clear exactly what the attached snap showed, the graphic featured two Xs, a lemon emoji, which Beyoncé fans have used to represent Beyoncé’s new album Lemonade, and the hashtag #Twisted.

Twitter account @musicnews_shade also tweeted out about the potential collaboration, posting the screen capture on the social media site alongside the message “Beyoncé might be collaborating with Mariah Carey. Video director Diane Martel posted (and deleted) the following…”

While reports that Mariah Carey and Beyoncé are planning to release a duet is still pure speculation, Martel notably has a history with both superstars.

Diane has worked with Mariah on a number of music videos in the past, including creating visuals for her singles “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” “Dreamlover,” and “The Roof.” Martel has also worked with Beyoncé, directing her music videos for “Listen” and “Best Thing I Never Had.”

Reports that Carey and Beyoncé could have collaborated on a new track follow unverified reports that a deluxe edition of Beyoncé’s surprise visual album Lemonade is expected to drop in the coming days that supposedly features a “huge” duet that was not included on the standard version released on April 23.

Twitter user @musicnews_shade alleged that a new version of the album is expected soon, tweeting out on April 24, “Sources have reported Lemonade (Deluxe) is still to come and will feature a collab with another huge female artist.”

Adding more fuel to the alleged duet fire, TMZ reported back in February that Carey and Beyoncé spoke about teaming up on a song after meeting at the HeartView Global Foundation earlier this year.

According to TMZ, the two “had tables beside each other” at the Los Angeles event and alleged that “the possibility of a duet was brought up” when Mariah and Beyoncé got the chance to speak. The site also reported that the two pop divas agreed that a duet “needs to happen.”

Mariah Carey and Beyoncé have so far stayed mum regarding rumors that they hit the studio together, but that hasn’t stopped the superstar’s fans from getting pretty excited over the collaboration speculation on social media.

“I’m trying not to say anything about the rumored Mariah Carey & Beyoncé collab bc I don’t wanna jinx it but DAMN IM EXCITED,” @kbyrd2 tweeted out, while @shadymariah simply tweeted out “BEYONCÉ AND MARIAH ARE COMING.”

“If #Beyoncé and Mariah Carey are truly collaborating, I am dead. Throw me in the trash. I’ve seen everything I need to see in this life,” @midwesting wrote on the 140-character site and @HailXtina speculated, “The reported Beyoncé & Mariah collab is going to be the shade song of the millennium. #CallBeckyWithTheGoodHair #IDontKnowHer.”
