Iron Man Xbox One Special Edition? Only If You Are Really Lucky

Next week is the launch of the Captain America: Civil War movie, and it looks like Microsoft has decided to celebrate with a new Iron Man Xbox One Special Edition, a console that bears the name of Stark Industries on its top plate.

The new console, spotted by Eurogamer, is of the rarer white variety, looking sleek and sporting an illuminated arc reactor for its centerpiece. You’ll also find a mini arc reactor and the Stark Industries brand on the controller.

Perhaps gamers can now use their consoles as a shield, too.

Tony Stark Involved, Says Microsoft

As if Tony and his Stark Industries do not have enough to do keeping the world safe, Microsoft claims that he was directly involved in this design and has approved it.

Sadly, gamers will be a bit disappointed to find that the Iron Man Special Edition is not for sale. In fact, only three versions have been produced. They are featured on Xbox France’s Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter accounts.

Three lucky people will win these consoles by entering the contest promoted on each of these three social media platforms. As there don’t seem to be any restrictions on who can enter the contests, feel free to throw in your entry along with gazillions of others who are scrambling to do so today.

In the Meantime…

You can admire the Iron Man Xbox from afar, however, and its look is quite impressive. A YouTube video launched today provides a view from all sides and especially showcases that great arc on the console center.

Although gaming websites have tried to reach out to Microsoft for information on possible production and sale to the public, the company has remained silent.

Will E3 Bring Some Answers?

Rumors are that Microsoft might be launching an upgraded Xbox One at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) in Los Angeles this June, but Xbox Chief, Phil Spencer recently stated, “I’m not a big fan of Xbox One and a half. If we’re going to go forward with anything, like I said, I want it to be a really substantial change for people.”

Possibilities include such things as Microsoft’s new HoloLens headset or a new wireless chip that the company has been testing. These could just be a small part of several optional upgrades that the company may announce at its press conference at the E3 convention.

The Verge, while not revealing its sources, states that Microsoft has been testing more than just a chip. Some prototypes have upgraded components for improving a PC gaming rig performance. We’ll just have to wait and see.

Meanwhile, Enjoy the Movie (No Spoilers)

While you wait to see if Microsoft will “relent” and bring the Iron Man Edition to the public, Captain America: Civil War awaits your viewing pleasure.

It seems that there is mounting pressure on the Avengers team to submit to some oversight and accountability after the collateral damage of their previous exploits. Captain America is totally against such oversight, but Iron Man believes it is necessary.

What begins as an argument turns into all out war between the two, and Black Widow and Hawkeye must choose sides. Watch the trailer here to whet your appetite.

Due to open on May 6, reviewers are already claiming that it is the best Marvel movie yet.

According to Justin Chang of Variety, “A decisively superior hero-vs.-hero extravaganza that also ranks as the most mature and substantive picture to have yet emerged from the Marvel Cinematic Universe.”

Many are hoping that once the movie opens, the Iron Man Xbox Edition will be launched too – perhaps in June?
