‘Bates Motel’ Season 4: Will Norma Survive Remaining Three Episodes? [Spoilers]

Bates Motel Season 4 is winding down. The burning question on almost everyone’s mind is whether or not Norma will survive the remaining three episodes. At this point, only time and Norman’s actions will tell.

As recently reported by Inquisitr, Season 5 of Bates Motel is already in the works. Even better, it’s scheduled to air before the end of the calendar year. In that post, Bates Motel co-creator Carlton Cuse had this to say about the show’s eventual end.

“Kerry and I have a pretty clear roadmap. We have a pretty clear plan of where we want to go and we want to bring this story to its inevitable conclusion. I think Bates is not its best version if it’s an open-ended series.”

In last night’s episode, Norman seemingly came to terms with the fact that he morphs into his mother as a means of protection. He also expressed his gratitude to Dr. Edwards for his kindly assistance. However, his recovery was nowhere near as important as leaving Pineview Institute to confront Sheriff Romero, according to Vulture. How dare the sheriff answer Norma’s phone!

How did Norman find out about his mother’s nuptials and his new stepdad, you ask? It happened when he tried to check himself out of the asylum. Blame it on the high cost of treating insanity and the insurance required to pay for it. At the end of this episode of Bates Motel, thanks to Bob Paris and the good sheriff, Norman said goodbye to Dr. Edwards and left Pineview in a cloud of dust.

Prior to that, Alex and Norma fell deeper in love. In a way, isn’t it a pity? It’s definitely not a secret, Normero was doomed from the start! Norma discussed her financial woes with her new hubby. He came to the rescue as usual. He even purchased a big-screen TV for the living room. What better way to dispose of the rest of Bob Paris’ money than to help rejuvenate Bates Motel?

The pair also talked about Norman coming home and why it was a good idea for him to stay at Pineview longer. It’s too bad Norma caved in and told her beloved son she was thrilled he was coming home. Especially after he found out she’s married. To make matters worse, when backed into a corner, Norma told Norman she only got married for the insurance. His reply was something to the effect of “we no longer need the insurance, dump the sheriff.”

Dylan found Audrey’s letter to Emma, hidden in Norman’s room. When he confronted Norma, she basically blew him off. Later, Dylan learns Audrey never returned home after checking into Bates Motel. In fact, her cell phone was disconnected and her landlady just evicted her. Emma chalked it up to her mom taking off again like she used to. If she only knew! Will she ever know?

Do you think Norman Bates is going to live long enough to make it to the next season of Bates Motel? Obviously, she’ll still be around in Season 5. But the way things look right now, there’s a good chance it will only be in Norman’s head. Feel free to share your thoughts about the remainder of Bates Motel Season 4 below.
