Christina Aguilera Leaving ‘The Voice’ After Season 10, Weighs In On Prince’s Death

Christina Aguilera is currently starring in what may turn out to be her final season of The Voice.

After the completion of The Voice Season 10, Christina Aguilera will vacate her coaching chair to make room for the series’ newest additions, Miley Cyrus and Alicia Keys, and while there has been no official confirmation that Christina Aguilera’s 10th season will be her last, there’s also been no confirmation that she’ll return for future seasons. In fact, rumors have swirled claiming the singer has been fired from the series due to her allegedly ongoing feud with Gwen Stefani.

At the end of last month, the Wrap confirmed Cyrus and Keys’ addition to The Voice while also stating that Pharrell Williams and Stefani would likely be a part of The Voice Season 12, which would begin filming next spring. But when it came to Christina Aguilera, her future with the NBC series wasn’t so much as mentioned.

For the past few years, Christina Aguilera has been alternating seasons of The Voice with Gwen Stefani, so news of her exit from the show wasn’t a big surprise. However, because her future return has not yet been reported, many are wondering whether fans have seen the last of her.

Christina Aguilera starred as a coach on The Voice Seasons 1, 2, and 3 before temporarily leaving the show as Shakira joined the cast for Season 4. She then returned to the show for Season 5 before Shakira returned for one season, followed by Stefani, who began alternating seasons with Christina Aguilera after Season 7.

Following news of Cyrus and Keys’ additions to the Voice, rumors began swirling in regard to the possibility of Christina Aguilera’s firing. At the end of March, Celebrity Dirty Laundry claimed Christina Aguilera may have been fired or quit the show after feuding with her co-stars.

“It seems a little strange after all of the drama Christina Aguilera created just to come back to The Voice, she would leave on her own accord after one season,” the outlet pointed out. “General consensus among Voice fans is that Christina was fired because of her constant problems with Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani, or ‘pushed out’ by veteran star [Blake Shelton].”

Earlier in March, a Radar Online source claimed Christina Aguilera’s tensions with Stefani and Shelton had reached an all-time high due to an alleged bonus offered to the couple to expose their relationship on The Voice.

“Blake and Gwen are getting an interesting offer from the show’s execs,” a source told the outlet at the time. “Producers want the two of them to give fans a full-on love-fest this season when she is a mentor on Team Blake, and they are going to throw in huge bonuses for exclusives, such as on-air duets, engagements, etc.”

“[Christina Aguilera] is furious!” the source explained. “Christina wants Gwen out of the picture and is already throwing mini-tantrums about it. She said that Gwen is ‘not vocally talented’ and would not be on the show at all anymore if it was not for her relationship with Blake.”

In other Christina Aguilera news, the singer commented on the tragic death of Prince on April 22.

“There is a heaviness in the air. It is a sad day, even though the sun is shining, we’re all just thinking in our heads of what a loss, what a crazy loss. But what an inspiration,” she told E! News.
