Devo, the influential and experimental 80s band, has released a new song about Mitt Romney and his dog. “Don’t Roof Rack Me, Bro!” was inspired by the now infamous incident when Romney strapped his dog to the roof of his car on a family vacation in 1983.

Devo’s Jerry Casale insists that the new song isn’t a political statement. Casale does say, however, that the incident does say a lot about Mitt Romnney’s character.

Casale said:

“This isn’t a red-state thing or Devo stumping for Obama. But I think any animal lover that hears the story will learn so much about the character flaw of Romney. It’s just a deal-breaker about the man. My God, the world is a scary place with seven billion people. What you want in a leader is a guy with some humanity at his core. I just don’t feel that Mitt does.”

Casale may be leaning toward Obama for the 2012 election, but he says that both parties are doing a terrible job of running the country.

Casale said:

“There isn’t freedom of choice anymore. The difference between the two parties is like the difference between Pepsi and Coke.”
