This Dog Has Been In A Maryland Shelter So Long That He Cries All Day, Everyday

Around a year ago, a dog named Juice saw his time with his family come to an end. His family moved to a new place where no dogs were allowed, so they brought him to the Montgomery County Animal Services & Adoption Center in Derwood, Maryland. The owners said that they simply couldn’t take Juice with them, and there was nothing wrong with him. Well, that was then, as now there is something wrong with the shelter’s longest resident, as all he does is cry all day, everyday.

Since Juice’s arrival in the shelter, he has met a number as potential families that came in looking for a pet. He would jump around or take naps or pant as they came close by his location. For 10 months, he dealt with shelter-life and watching one family after another pass him by.

No matter what, Juice would still take things day-by-day and get excited for each new possible adopter to come his way.

Then, it just got to be too much. Too many families would come and go, but then one did stop at his spot and knew he was the right one for them. They adopted him and took Juice home so he could start a new life, but it simply wasn’t meant to be.

A couple of days after bringing Juice home, the family brought him back to shelter and said that the dog merely wasn’t the right fit for them. It didn’t work out and he had to go back to the shelter and return to the place he had spent so many months.

Once Juice returned to the shelter, that was when the staff learned something truly upsetting. He wasn’t his cheerful old self and it was no longer just subtle, but it was obvious, as they reported on their official Facebook page.

“Staff started to notice him crying, panting, and pacing more often. One of our staff took him home for a ‘sleepover’ this week to give him a break from the shelter and try to help him relax. But when she brought him back in the morning and put him back in the kennel, he started crying. And didn’t stop. All day.”

Videos have been posted to the Facebook page that not only allow people to hear Juice crying, but can see the Bullmastiff Mix crying, as well.

Honestly, it’s not the easiest thing in the world to watch as Juice just sits there on his blanket and cries. Other times, he will lay down in his blanket and cry for hours on end without stopping, and his sadness is obvious.

Over the past couple of days, the story of Juice has really gotten around on social media, and his page on PetFinder says that a lot of attention is coming his way. It is believed that someone will get wind of this story and very well may adopt him soon.

As of April 21, the Montgomery County Animal Service & Adoption Center has said that he is still available to be adopted, but many people have expressed interest in him. The shelter does allow non-Maryland residents to adopt, but all must go to the shelter to meet the animals before having them transported.

There are around 50 other dogs currently in the shelter also looking for good homes. Juice just so happens to be the longest resident there.

Juice still resides at the Montgomery County Animal Services & Adoption Center in Derwood, Maryland, but he’s been getting a lot of attention lately. Maybe his tears, and prayers, will soon be able to stop as the interest in him grows. Someone may have a place for Juice and may see to adopting him so that he can be surrounded by loved ones once again.
