‘Game Of Thrones’ Season 6 Accidentally Leaked Online, Spoilers Point To Melisandre’s Age

As the countdown for Game of Thrones Season 6 comes to a close, the production team seemed to have accidentally leaked the first few episodes online.

According to Express, this was not supposed to happen because the release was just about to happen. The premiere of Game of Thrones Season 6 was set to debut at 2 a.m. U.K. time. However, other users claimed that they have already seen the premiere even before the TV launch.

Though HBO did not verify the claim, many users on Twitter, IMDB, and Reddit have showed proof. The online leak was immediately removed, but there were already a couple of users who already completed the premiere.

Meanwhile, there were also others that claimed HBO was the one responsible for the leak. It could be possible to stir more buzz on the premiere, but initial posts point their blame on a Canadian streaming website.

‘GOT’ Season 6 Spoiled

In a Reddit megathread, the admins of the page claimed that the leak was, in fact, a mistaken release.

“There’s been an awakening. Have you felt it? Hold up, wrong franchise. Episode 1 was mistakenly available to some subscribers last night. Images of the episode are leaking and rumors of the entire episode abound. As per our recent piracy policy update, we will be creating megathreads for discussion.”

Though users were encouraged not to share spoilers, there were still those who openly discussed what they saw during the accidental leak.

**Tentative spoilers ahead.**

Game of Thrones Season 6 premiere reportedly had mixed reviews. Users who waited for the TV release in U.S. and U.K. were quite disappointed by the many commercials that appeared before the show. Though HBO was supposed to start at 9 p.m. EST, some claimed that they aired it a couple of minutes late.

At the same time, many were disappointed because the majority of the show was all about flashbacks. The premiere was just about 40 minutes and the majority of air time was focused on flash backs.

Nonetheless, there were still some valuable details revealed during the premiere. As users claimed, Game of Thrones Season 5 ended abruptly and they had no idea where the show is taking them for Season 6. However, there were multiple users who said they were not that surprised to find out about the mystery of Melisandre.

In an interview with Oliver Ford Davies, the actor shared his experience on set. He said that in one shot, they both had to eat poison and his character died. During a break, Davies asked Melisandre actress Carice van Houten why her character remained alive.

“I’m not quite up to speed on this. Why don’t you die? And she said, ‘I’m 400 years old!'”

This fact also did not come as a surprise for most because in van Houten’s interview with Access Hollywood back in 2012, she already told them that Melisandre was more than 100-years-old.

“She definitely has certain powers. I don’t how old she is, but she’s way over 100 years, so she is a wiser spirit, in a way, but it’s difficult for me to say too much because A — we want it to at least stay sort of a mystery and B — I didn’t read the books.”

Because of this mystery, people are claiming that it was her necklace that gave her the power of youth.

Melisandre, often known as “The Red Woman” is one of the major characters on Game of Thrones. She will also play a big part during Season 6.

Melisandre was born a slave in Essos, but she worked her way up to becoming a priestess of the Lord of Light and advisor to Stannis Baratheon.
