Johnny Manziel Training ‘Every Single Day’ For Comeback Bid — Will Anyone Sign The Troubled QB?

Johnny Manziel recently told TMZ that he is training “every single day” in his bid to return to the football field in 2016. But will a team sign the former Cleveland Browns quarterback?

Adding that his workout routine occurs “in the mountains” above where he’s staying in California, Johnny is attempting to get his football playing career back on track just months before the 2016 NFL season starts. In addition to his alleged workout routine, The Big Lead reported that Manziel issued a statement confirming his plans to play again this fall.

“I’m hoping to take care of the issues in front of me right now, so I can focus on what I have to do if I want to play in 2016. I also continue to be thankful to those who really know me and support me.”

Before any team will negotiate a contract with Manziel, Johnny needs to find an agent. That has been a problem for the troubled 23-year-old athlete as his representation in Cleveland — Lebron James’ marketing firm — sacked the quarterback after his end-of-the-year issues, the Inquisitr previously reported.

Almost unthinkably, Manziel reeled in another powerful agent, superagent Drew Rosenhaus, to represent his football interests just weeks later. Not even a month into their relationship, Johnny found himself again without representation as he ignored Rosenhaus’ ultimatum to get help or be dropped as a client, USA Today reported.

That Drew dropped Johnny as a client is saying something because Rosenhaus’ client list was a who’s who of players with checkered pasts from the the past decade. It was the first time in his 27-year career as an agent that Drew had to fire a player, ESPN reported. Nike followed suit this week as well, meaning that no company no longer employs the one-time Heismann winner as a player or spokesperson.

Despite signs suggesting Johnny seek help for his off-the-field issues, Manziel remains defiant and steadfast that he will find employment again in the NFL. In addition to his own words, a spokesperson for Johnny Manziel tried to paint a different picture than most franchises and outsiders believe to be true, calling Johnny Football by his full first name.

“So many people only have one image of Jonathan, but believe it or not, he takes all this very seriously. He’s hoping that he can clear up his personal issues, start interviewing agents and see what he needs to do if he wants to play this year.”

Johnny has a story thus far that is similar to a legendary quarterback. Both Manziel and Hall of Famer Brett Favre squandered their chances with their first team due to their excessive partying lifestyle.

Where these stories differ are the endings. In Favre’s case, the player recovered in Green Bay to win a Super Bowl in two trips to the big game in a spectacular career. Johnny Manziel hasn’t shown signs he’s willing to put his football career foremost, continuing to party despite the hits his professional career continue to take.

Johnny does have one offer on the table, albeit from an unlikely venue. The satirical NFL Meme’s Twitter account shared a photograph earlier this week of a restaurant called Taco Time, an eatery offering Manziel a chance to apply for a job.

Using your full name and telling TMZ reporters that you are training could be considered positive steps in the right direction for Johnny. But in order to actually be believed, Manziel will have to erase the playboy image teams have of him by staying away from the night life. Putting in the work is what keeps Johnny Manziel out of the NFL, a league desperately seeking franchise quarterbacks at every turn.
