Rihanna To Release A Second ‘Anti’? Cardo Hints That The ‘Needed Me’ Singer Has ‘Another’ Album

Rihanna may be busy touring for her recently released eighth studio album, Anti, but is the “Work” singer planning on releasing a second installment to her Anti album? According to producer Cardo, it seems that another new music release from Rihanna may be on its way.

In a new interview with Complex, Cardo, who has produced tracks for industry heavyweights such as Wiz Khalifa and Drake, opened up about his work on Kendrick Lamar’s untitled unmastered., a project that dropped back in March, before hinting that a new album release from Rihanna may be on the horizon.

Speaking on his work with Kendrick Lamar for the rapper’s untitled unmastered. album, Cardo admits that he had “no knowledge” of the album’s existence prior to being asked to produce tracks for the project.

“I didn’t know anything about it really,” Cardo explains of untitled unmastered.‘s surprise debut. “We had records that were going to come out sooner or later, but as far as the album I didn’t know nothing. I had no knowledge of that album being made. Then they told me, ‘We’re going to drop this untitled unmastered. project,” and I was like, ‘What?'”

In addition, Cardo further details how he approached Kendrick Lamar about being able to work on the album, noting that the experience “was the craziest moment” of his life.

When asked if he was in the studio during the process of Kendrick recording the album, Cardo reveals, “No, I was with Kendrick for a brief second. He was working on something else. I played it and was like, ‘Bro, you’re not going to put out another album without me being on it.’ We both just started laughing, and he’s like, ‘I got you, I got you.’ I was like, ‘Come on, bro, I need to be on the next project.’ That eventually happened, and I thought that was really, really crazy. That was the craziest moment of my life.”

Speaking on what’s in store for the future, Cardo admits that there are “so many records we’ve been working on that’s about to come out,” before hinting at an upcoming collaboration with Rihanna.

“I can’t say anything beyond that,” Cardo continues, “but we got a record with Rihanna. That’s all I can say. I can’t say anything more. But there’s a Rihanna and Cardo record.”

When asked if Rihanna is featured on the track, Cardo admits that it’s “her song” before revealing, “It was for Anti, but there’s another Anti. I don’t know if it’s official, but I know we have a record.”

While Rihanna has already seen massive success with her eighth studio album, with Anti debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart despite having been leaked on Tidal prior to its official release, rumors of a double-disc album for Anti were first ignited last year following the news that Rihanna had scrapped her initial work on the album, then titled R8, in favor of a new creative direction.

In November, Rihanna’s father, Ronald Fenty, opened up to The Sun about the singer’s struggle to complete her eighth studio album, noting that Rihanna was “not comfortable” with the direction of the project and wanted it to be “better than the rest.”

“The rest of her catalogue belongs to Def Jam,” Fenty explained of Rihanna’s previous albums. “Now she’s with Roc Nation she wants this to be better than the rest. She has some things she likes but wants something more. To her it’s not ready.”

Fenty continued, “[Rihanna] doesn’t know which of the 26 songs to use. She’s still looking for fresh material and has the energy for it.”

With the deluxe version of Anti having included a total of 16 tracks, it seems that rumors are now suggesting that Rihanna may be planning on releasing some of the scrapped material from her previously rumored R8 album.
