Stana Katic’s ‘Castle’ Exit Dissed By Nathan Fillion, Molly Quinn? Stars Believe Series Will Go On Without Beckett

Many Castle fans recently took to Twitter following reports that Stana Katic left the hit ABC series after she was bullied by onscreen partner Nathan Fillion. An insider recently claimed that the actress would cry in her dressing room because she was upset about working with Fillion. However, the actor and co-star Molly Quinn seemed unfazed by Katic’s exit and were optimistic that the show will go on without Beckett.

A source told Us Weekly that Katic and Fillion have not been getting along for quite some time. It seems, however, that the problem lies with the actor. The insider insisted that “a lot of people” who work on Castle also did not like the actor.

While the source did not elaborate what he meant by Nathan Fillion bullying Stana Katic, the insider revealed that the friction between the Castle stars was very evident on set. In spite of the way he was acting towards her, Katic reportedly remained professional through it all.

“Nathan has been nasty to Stana for a long time. Stana was a pro, just wanted to get in there and do her job.”

On his official Twitter account, Fillion thanked Katic for all her contributions to the show. He added that her character, Beckett, will live on as “one of the greatest police officers on television.” Fillion also wished nothing but the best for his former Castle co-star, adding that she will clearly be successful in whatever path she takes.

Nathan Fillion, however, cannot seem to help but throw a subtle shade down Stana Katic’s way.

“Castle has been one of the greatest joys of my creative life, and I hope the show continues on for years to come,” he tweeted.

Some fans cannot help but read between the lines of the tweet. They pointed out that it was Fillion’s subtle way of saying that Castle can and will go on without Stana Katic. With the actress gone, the show will reportedly focus more on the case-of-the-week format. It was said that the producers wanted to deviate from the love story angle.

Molly C. Quinn, who plays Castle’s daughter, Alexis, also remains positive that Castle can also go on without Stana Katic. On her Twitter page, she replied to a fan who said that it will not be Castle without Beckett.

“It’ll be different, way way way different, but it is ?#Castle ?@NathanFillion IS Castle.”

Many thought that Quinn was just plain rude, as her tweet was essentially belittling Stana Katic’s contribution to the show. They also pointed out that Castle has not always been focused on Fillion’s character but his dynamic with Katic’s Beckett.

While the fate of Castle is actually still hanging in the balance, Deadline reported that the network is already in talks with Fillion to return for Season 9. The actor has already been approached months before to reprise his role as Richard Castle while Stana Katic was not even offered an opportunity to return to the show.

“I hear she, as well as Jones, were informed late last week that for budgetary reasons, they won’t be asked to come back for Season 9.”

None of the other Castle cast members has been guaranteed a spot for Season 9, except for Fillion. The outlet, however, speculated that Seamus Dever (Kevin Ryan) and Jon Huertas (Javier Esposito) is likely to return given their good working relationship with Fillion.
