Blake Shelton Discusses ‘Remarkable Bond’ With Gwen Stefani, Dishes Duet Details

Blake Shelton is dishing the details on his upcoming duet with Gwen Stefani & gushing over their “amazing bond.”

Shelton spoke out about his upcoming duet with Stefani for the first time in a candid new interview with Entertainment Tonight, where he admitted that the song, titled “Go Ahead And Break My Heart,” is in fact “very personal” for the couple.

“We obviously have this bond that is remarkable together,” Blake told the site of Gwen Stefani on April 21, admitting that writing music with his girlfriend of five months made him less “insecure” about his songwriting abilities.

“The fact that we wrote a song together… I know that I don’t co-write that much because I’m very insecure about it I guess and [Gwen’s] kind of got her circle of people that she writes with,” Blake revealed, “But for us to reach out to each other as writers, it may never happen again, who knows?”

While Blake didn’t reveal too much more about the song in the candid new interview, he admitted that “Go Ahead And Break My Heart” could well be one of the best songs he’s written in his career.

“I hesitate to brag on it too much but I really think that it’s as good of a song as I’ve ever written in my life,” Blake said of his and Gwen’s duet.

Despite Blake’s reluctant to spill any further details about his and Gwen’s new track, Shelton did reveal the story of how Stefani confirmed that the two had in fact hit the studio together for a duet earlier this week on her official Twitter page.

“We finally got a mock-up of the album … And we flip it over and it has all the songs. I said, ‘You know what? Take a picture of that and tweet it,’ ” Blake Shelton recalled, revealing that it was actually his idea to let girlfriend Gwen reveal the duet title. “It’ll be our way to announce that yes, we have a duet together,” Shelton said.

Gwen Stefani officially announced the big duet news on social media on April 19 after posting a snap of the back cover of Blake’s new album, If I’m Honest, with the caption “Look what I found lying round the house! #ispymyname #goaheadandbreakmyheart @blakeshelton #eeeekkkk! #crazy!”

But while Gwen may have officially announced the duet name, rumors have swirled for months that the loved-up couple had hit the studio together late last year shortly after they went public with their pretty surprising romance.

People first reported that Shelton and Stefani had recorded a “real country” song together back in November after an insider close to Blake told the site that “It’s amazing how good she sounds on a pretty country song.”

The site claimed at the time that Shelton and Stefani’s “Go Ahead And Break My Heart” duet is actually a “mid-tempo ballad,” and “is about telling a lover to leave the relationship if that is what they truly want,” though Blake and Gwen are still to officially confirm the content of their first duet.

It’s also thought that Blake Shelton found inspiration in his latest romance with Gwen to create a slew of other tracks on his upcoming release.

Shelton previously teased to Entertainment Tonight that his new album will deal with his blossoming relationship with Gwen as well as his 2015 divorce from fellow country star Miranda Lambert.

“I can put my life experience, whether it’s a divorce or my new girlfriend, whatever those experiences are, whatever things that are happening in my life, I have an outlet for them,” Blake told Entertainment Tonight of the album earlier this year. “I have music. I can write songs, I can sing about it.”
