‘Game Of Thrones’: HBO Releases Season 6 Premiere Photos

The Season 6 premiere of Game of Thrones is now merely days away, with excitement undeniably growing fast amongst fans. In a bid to further fuel that excitement, HBO has released a series of photos taken from the Season 6 premiere of Game of Thrones.

According to IGN, HBO has released new stills that show key scenes in the upcoming season premiere of Game of Thrones, “The Red Woman.” The photos provide a key hint in terms of the scenes that will come in the new season and which particular story arcs the episode will focus on. Whilst the new photographs might not be as exciting as seeing the new episode itself for fans of Game of Thrones, they definitely add to the excitement around the upcoming new season.

If the newly released images are to provide a hint of what’s to come in the new episode of Game of Thrones, it looks like the series will pick up shortly after the events of the Season 5 finale and taking those events into consideration, there are a lot of loose ends to tie up.

For a start, the new season looks to be big for Arya Stark, played by Maisie Williams, as images show her continuing in her quest to become a Faceless Man. The second of the images is also shot in Dorne, which is no surprise considering the tragic events that took place in Game of Thrones‘ Season 5 premiere. At the same time, fans receive the first real hint that Daenerys Targaryen, played by Emilia Clarke is now in the hands of the Dothraki leader, Khal Moro. That’s all coupled with what looks to be an episode of Game of Thrones that will largely focus on following Sansa Stark, played by Sophie Turner and Theon Greyjoy, played by Alfie Allen, as they run from Ramsay Bolton, played by Iwan Rheon.

According to Digital Spy, with so many different story arcs that need to be explained, this is surely going to be one of the most-packed episodes of Game of Thrones in the series’ history. However, it’s worth remembering that the images don’t necessarily represent every scene that will pop up in the hour-long episode of Game of Thrones. One story arc that has been promised to make a return in this season of Game of Thrones that was previously missing from the last season is that of Bran Stark.

Either way, these images provide the first real glimpse of exactly what will happen in the Season 6 premiere of Game of Thrones, which is largely because HBO has been incredibly tight-lipped about the episode. That being said, the synopsis for the first episode of the new season has been released by HBO, and it reads:

“Jon Snow is dead. Daenerys meets a strong man. Cersei sees her daughter again.”

The synopsis for the new episode obviously points to one of the biggest questions that fans of Game of Thrones are looking to be answered in this season, and that’s whether or not fan-favourite character Jon Snow is really dead following the events of the Season 5 finale.

There isn’t too long to wait now to learn of exactly what these photos entail, as Season 6 of Game of Thrones premieres Sunday, April 24 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on HBO. Season 6 of Game of Thrones is set to run for a total of 10 episodes, however, according to the Inquisitr, it could be the last season to do so. Game of Thrones‘ showrunners are currently looking into the possibility that the show could conclude with two short seasons that total 13 episodes in order to maintain quality levels until the end.
