Pamela Anderson Officially Joins Cast Of The ‘Baywatch’ Film — Who Will She Play?

Pamela Anderson has officially joined the star-studded cast of the Baywatch movie, as announced by The Rock himself.

Dwayne Johnson took to Instagram to announce the Pamela Anderson casting, posting a photo of himself posing side-by-side with the 48-year-old actress.

“She introduced the world to ‘CJ Parker’ and became one of the most iconic characters of a generation – for the most successful TV show of all time. A pleasure to welcome (as gorgeous as ever) Pamela Anderson to our #BAYWATCH cast,” Johnson continued. “We couldn’t have made this movie without you. Welcome home. Thrilled you had a blast with us!” captioned Johnson.

Pamela Anderson joined the Baywatch television show in 1992, becoming a regular cast member for five seasons. Playing the role of C.J. Parker, Anderson became one of the most recognizable actresses during the 90’s. Her casting in Baywatch paved the way for more roles in numerous Hollywood films, the most notable of which being Barb Wire, where she played the lead role.

But now that Pamela is officially a cast member of Baywatch‘s movie adaptation, what role will she be playing? It sure won’t be C.J. Parker this time, what with Sports Illustrated swimsuit model Kelly Rohrbach already being cast for the role. As of this writing, Pamela’s role in the movie is yet to be announced.

Anderson admitted in an interview with ET Canada last February that she had been offered a role for Baywatch but initially turned it down. In an interview with TMZ, the Barbed Wire actress said that “no one appreciates the remakes,” adding that she believes the movie version will struggle to capture the magic of the original material because the era in which it became popular was a “simpler, sweeter time.”

After being constantly pursued by the film’s producers, Anderson eventually said that she would think about it.

“Baywatch was such a huge part of my life,” Anderson explained. “And really they’re trying to do an homage. It’s an honor to have them want me to be a part of it so bad.”

Anderson’s casting in the Baywatch movie will have her reunite with another familiar face from the popular television series – none other than David Hasselhoff. Like Pamela, David won’t be reprising his old role in the film adaptation. The task of playing Mitch Buchannon now goes to Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.

Last March, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson took to Instagram to announce Hasselhoff’s involvement in the Baywatch film, and he made the announcement with a flair worthy of The People’s Champ. He posted a video of himself having a FaceTime session with “The Hoff.”

“#BAYWATCH is the most successful TV show of all time and from the day we announced we were turning it into a movie, ‘The Hoff’ has been our greatest supporter. Especially once he knew our RATED R movie was going to be a combination of AVENGERS meets ANCHORMAN.”

“Hoff’s a cool dude who’s down to have fun and here’s the best part… He’s been training his ass off and gotten in the best shape he’s been in years! (cue slo-mo running and glistening chest hair.. wait, why the f**k am I even thinking about Hoff’s chest hair!?),” Johnson added.

“I don’t know if the world is ready for both of us,” Johnson tells David in the video. “Are you ready?”

“C’mon man, Rock and The Hoff, I was born ready!” Hasselhoff replied, to which Johnson exclaimed, “There ain’t no ‘Bay’ without The Hoff. Get ready world.”

Aside from David Hasselhoff and Pamela Anderson, Dwayne Johnson will be joined in the Baywatch film by fan favorite Zac Efron, Jon Bass, Alexandra Daddario, Kelly Rohrbach, and Ilfenesh Hadera.

Seth Gordon of Horrible Bosses is directing Baywatch, with the script written by Damian Shannon and Mark Swift. Baywatch is set to appear in theaters on May 19, 2017.
