Xbox Durango Development Kit Sells On eBay For $20,000

The new Xbox Durango hasn’t hit store shelves yet. It hasn’t even been announced yet. According to Microsoft, it doesn’t even exist. But that didn’t stop an eBay user from selling the first one for over $20,000 this weekend.

According to Plugged In, an Xbox Durgango Development Kit was sold on eBay over the weekend for $20,100. The kit, if real, would allow the anonymous buyer to create games for the upcoming console. But again, only if it’s real.

The Xbox Durango Development Kit comes from a seller named SuperDaE, who to his credit, does have a history of having inside information with Microsoft. So let’s assume that the development kit is real. That still doesn’t mean that the sale is legit.

Development kits, even for systems that actually exist, are rarely ever sold. Instead, they are leased out to companies. If the kit on eBay were real, SuperDaE may have a legal fight on his hands.

But SuperDaE doesn’t seem to worried about any coming legal problems.

The eBay user wrote on Twitter that he discussed the sale with eBay and was able to legally sell his item.

The seller also denied that the property was stolen and dared Microsoft to come sue him.

Do you think the Xbox Durango Development Kit is real? Do you think Microsoft will be releasing a new system in 2013?
