Rashida Jones Encourages John Travolta To Come Out As Gay

rashida jones urges john travolta to come out

UPDATE - Rashida Jones has now apologized for her John Travolta remarks, noting his life is none of her business.

Rashida Jones publicly urged John Travolta to come out as gay and put what she termed “persistent rumors” to rest. The Parks and Recreation star, who is also the youngest daughter of legendary music producer Quincy Jones, made her John Travolta declaration during an interview with SpinningPlatters.

During the interview about her new movie Celeste and Jesse Forever Rashida Jones noted her admiration for Frank Ocean, who recently announced publicly that he is gay. Jones feels that movie stars “need to out themselves” in order to move on with their lives, the Daily Mail notes.

“And a movie star! It’s time…like John Travolta? Come out! Come on. How many masseurs have to come forward? Let’s do this,” Jones stated in response to her Celeste and Jesse Forever co-star Will McCormack’s comments about the need for a professional athlete to come out.

Jones also heralded Ricky Martin and Anderson Cooper for their recent sexual preference admissions. Rashida Jones insists the time for Travolta to come out is now, so the information does not surface after his death.

Joan Edwards who worked as John Travolta’s assistant during Urban Cowboy and Look Who’s Talking filming claims the star had a sexual relationship with Doug Gotterba, a male pilot during the 1980s, the Huffington Post reports.

john travolta gay rumors

John Travolta, 58, became the subject of sexual preference rumors after several masseurs alleged the movie star assaulted them. Travolta vehemently denied the claims that he assaulted male massage professionals and maintains that he is not gay. The Daily Mail reports that John Travolta has offered evidence against the assault claims which appear to support his innocence against the physical attack allegations.

Re: "John Travolta just needs to come out already."

Rashida Jones publicly urges John Travolta to come out of the closet. Perhaps that headlines and story should (more accurately) actually read this way:

"Rashida Jones, star of "The Office" and the upcoming film "Celeste and Jesse Forever," in an effort to promote herself and the film within the social media circles and thus increase her somewhat remote fame (in comparison) relays unproven, unsubstantiated rumors of an accusation against John Travolta, who denies the accusers charges."

Astronaut Sally Ride's post-mortem tribute to the fact that she was survived (we found out afterwards, of course) by Tam O'Shaugnessy, her partner of 27 years as well as having been previously married to a male astronaut for five years; should be proof positive that whether (or not) someone is actually either privately gay or lesbian or bi-sexual or trans and does not wish to currently reveal this – it is none of anybody's g-damn business.

And everyone including celebs who actually are or are not so; should have their right to their dignity as well as privacy with regards to this matter; instead of being hounded and witch-hunted by the likes of washed-up dried-out windbags such as Quincy Jones, Joan Rivers and Carrie Fisher and now faux-ingénue Rashida Jones – or any other 'impending' clueless, rumor mongering and truly classless, voluntarily hypocritical headline grabbers. Period.

    *Update*

Since Ms. Jones has apologized just a few hours ago on her Rashida Jones “twitter' account; I hope she learned her lesson and wasn't simply `cow-towing' to her movie's execs. BTW – Sorry about that `post-error' – Make that `post-mortem' tribute.

I sorry too if I might have gone a little overboard w/Rashida there, but I have bipolar illness and so I know what it is like to be cruelly posted about and sometimes `follow-up post' whenever I see people thoughtlessly use unsubstantiated rumors to publicly shame, disgrace and/or stigmatize others; in an attempt to thwart their efforts a bit if that's possible.
