Texas A&M Shooter ‘Crazy As Hell,’ Says Dad

Texas A&M shooter Thomas Caffall’s stepdad wasn’t exactly supportive of his stepson on Tuesday. Speaking to local TV station KPRC, he calls Thomas a “ticking time bomb” who was “crazy as hell.”

Those comments came just after police fatally shot and killed the gunman who is now known to have been suffering from some sort of mental illness. Thomas had gone on the killing spree after his landlord evicted him from his apartment.

On his Facebook page, Thomas Caffall actually posted and bragged about his arsenal of high-tech weapons. In one posting he wrote:

“It’s not an AK-47. It’s a Czech vz. 58. Just picked it up today. Can’t wait to try it out on the range.”

In a second post Caffall commented:

“I just got a new toy. It’s a Russian Mosin Nagant that looks like it might not have been fired in 80 years, but was extremely well preserved. I’ll be at the gun range as much as I can.”

His stepfather wasn’t the only person who knew about his mental problem; his mom Linda Weaver recently told the Huffington Post:

“The minute I saw the TV I knew it was him. I’ve been that worried about him…We are just devastated,” she said. “He’s been very deeply troubled. If you are going to commit suicide, why take all these other people with you?”

Caffall before the Texas A&M shooting had called himself “a cross between Forrest Gump and Jack Kerouac (without the drugs).”
