Expendables 3: Nicholas Cage, Harrison Ford, Clint Eastwood Rumored For Action Franchise

An action sequel has to be bigger and better than its predecessor. So when it comes to ensemble movies like The Expendables, the key is to get bigger names to join the film. For the Expendables 2, Jean Claude Van Damme and Chuck Norris added some extra muscle to the cast. For the third movie in the franchise, if one gets made, the producers are hoping to secure stars like Nicholas Cage, Harrison Ford, and Clint Eastwood.

Avi Lerner, who produced the first and second Expendables movies, said:

“We’ve approached Clint Eastwood to be one of the guys, we’ve got a character in mind for him. We’re talking to Harrison Ford… [And we want] Wesley Snipes when he comes back from prison. I’ll give you one more name, we’ve got Nicolas Cage to play [one of the characters]. And we’re going to bring Mickey Rourke back, if he won’t be too crazy. I like Mickey. And of course, all the existing stars [will return]”

Of course, The Expendables 3 has to get made before Cage, Snipes, Ford, or Eastwood could join the cast.

The second movie opens this weekend, and, if it does better than the first movie (which grossed over $100 million at the domestic box office), there’s probably a good chance that Stallone and the rest of his aging action star friends return for one final movie.
