Drew Barrymore On Why She Has To Fight For Happiness

Drew Barrymore, the actress best known for being one of Charlie’s Angels and starring alongside Adam Sandler in romantic comedies like The Wedding Singer and 50 First Dates, has decided to focus her attention on her daughters for the time being. According to People, the recent split between Barrymore and her husband of four years, Will Kopelman, has caused her to focus all her attention into making sure her children are raised in a loving household.

Drew Barrymore spoke on what she thinks love means in her life right now.

“I thought I knew what love was, but holy cow, I did not. I could never have imagined the kind of love I have for my children. I am who I am because of my daughters. I’m an overachiever parent, and not because I think I’m going to repeat the patterns of my parents.”

Despite (or perhaps in spite of) Barrymore’s own upbringing being a less than traditional one, she’s convinced that her children will not have to worry about having the same kind of childhood she had. The 50 First Dates actress strongly believes that her divorce will not stop her or her ex-husband from keeping the children as their number one priority.

Drew Barrymore spoke on the optimism she felt for the future and how much she believes in love and happiness, saying that happiness is something that takes a lot of work.

“Happiness is not this yellow, blithe, floating thing. It’s something that takes a tremendous amount of work. There’s a warrior aspect to being happy. You’ve got to fight for it. And only when you’ve got that kind of earned happiness is it really good.”

The happiness attained by Barrymore was, in part, thanks to her “angel” Cameron Diaz. Diaz and Barrymore consider one another best friends and Barrymore is quick to admit that Diaz was one of the people that helped her back on her feet after the divorce was set in stone. She considers Diaz to be the best dinner partner, cooking partner, and watching-TV-on-the-couch friend. Both women work incredibly hard on their lives, careers, and their friendship.

Drew Barrymore spoke about her instinct to protect her daughters and how she would never allow them to spend their childhoods acting on film or TV sets like she spent hers.

“I’d never let them become child actors. They’ll have a chastity belt, a tracker system, no cell phones and we’ll live in the middle of nowhere. In reality, I’ll just lead by example by being spirited, classy, consistent, philanthropic, hardworking, loyal to my friends and there any second they might need me.”

A mom in real life, Barrymore is set to make a guest appearance in Odd Mom Out but not as a mom. Instead, as the neighbor of Jill Kargman’s character, according to Business Standard.

The plot will revolve around Meredith, Barrymore’s character, surviving a historic blizzard with the couple, Jill and Andy.

Keeping up to her promise to be a great mother to her children, Drew Barrymore and her daughter Olivia recently went on a yoga date, according to USA Today.

A recent post on Drew Barrymore’s Instagram account showed a wonderful photo of a happy mother and daughter enjoying a yoga class together. Despite the recent divorce, Drew Barrymore seemingly found a peaceful state with Olive, who was dressed up as Disney princess Elsa, during the yoga session.

Not neglecting her youngest daughter, the Ever After actress also posted an Instagram photo paying tribute to her other daughter Frankie, showing her daughters’ names tattoos on her wrists.
