‘Total Divas’ Season Finale — Bella Twins Get Their Own E! Spin-Off, But Will Nikki Ever Wrestle Again?

A week after Nikki Bella was quoted as saying she is “basically a wife” to John Cena, Total Divas captured a conversation between the Bellas, Natalya, and Eva Marie in which Cena’s girlfriend doubled-down on her previous statement.

John finally told me… he wants to marry me. He wants to be married to me.

After explaining that John wants her to be sure she’s okay with never having a baby before he proposes, the show shifted from the personal lives to the professional lives of the Bella Twins and the rest of the WWE Divas. Nikki is horrified at the thought of her injury being career-ending, while Brie must try to lead Team Bella against rising stars like Charlotte and Sasha Banks. Perhaps making it too obvious that Nikki and Brie are the real stars of Total Divas, the E! Network aired commercials for their new spin-off — Total Bellas — that will be debuting in October.

After a group heart-to-heart and a dinner/engagement party for Rosa, all of the Divas were on good terms before flying home from Paris to return to business as usual. With no real tension building aside from Nikki’s injury, the birth of Rosa’s baby is the only non-Bella story given any real attention after the Divas left France.

The following contains the full spoilers for the Total Divas season finale, “C’est La Divas (Part 2)” that E! originally aired on Tuesday, April 19, at 9/8c.

Nikki Bella’s injury

While John is still recovering from his own surgery, the doctors have bad news regarding Nikki Bella’s injury. The bulge on her neck isn’t getting better — in fact, it may be getting worse. After having a good cry with her mother, she is set to have a meeting with WWE about the doctors’ final diagnosis.

Brie accompanies her sister to a meeting with Mark Carrano during a live WWE event. While nothing is conclusive, their boss wants them to prepare for the possibility that Nikki may have already wrestled her last match. While safety always comes first, the end of Nikki’s in-ring career would also mean the end of the Bella Twins, so a lot is at stake. Unfortunately, it will have to wait until next season. Or perhaps Total Bellas.

Rosa gives birth

With what appeared to be a normal amount of fanfare for someone having a baby away from their family, Rosa and Bobby were introduced to their first baby, and Total Divas was there to catch the action. The baby was born healthy and there were no real concerns during the 24 hours of labor.

The real drama came when Rosa tried to talk to her mother about the baby’s religious future. Raised a Catholic, Rosa’s fiancé and baby-daddy is an atheist. When she told her religious mother that the baby would be allowed to make her own decision about God and religion, her mother said Rosa might as well tell her that she’s “going to hell.” Bobby helped Rosa cope with her mother’s insensitive stance by reminding her of all the love she has around her.

Teasers and Total Bellas

No real mention was made of any future Total Divas programming. Generally, a show like this would have some cliffhanger-style drama to keep viewers anticipating the fall premiere, but the only unresolved drama on Total Divas is whether or not Nikki will be able to wrestle in the future.

Of course, the commercials for Total Bellas showed Nikki in her neck brace (which isn’t new to anyone watching who is an actual WWE fan), baiting faithful Total Divas viewers to pick up a new spin-off.
