Gidget the Chihuahua, best remembered as the Taco Bell dog has died at the age 15.

Gidget appeared in a range of Taco Bell advertisements between 1997 and 2000 which included the phrase “¡Yo quiero Taco Bell!” voiced by actor Carlos Alazraqui. The ad campaign was regarded as successful for Taco Bell, however some Latino groups believed the ads featuring Gidget pandered to racial stereotypes.

Gidget’s career didn’t end with Taco Bell. After finishing up as the Taco Bell Dog, Gidget appear on the Jay Leno show, in a GEICO commercial in 2002, and played Bruiser’s mom in 2003′s Legally Blonde 2: Red, White and Blonde.

Gidget had spent her later years retired and well looked after by owner Sue Chipperto, and is believed to have died from a stroke bought on by old age.
